Al- though they were forced to practice from 7:30 to 8:30 before school every day, they stuck with it. lt was a very trying season, but with much Determinatio they overcame these barriers, played extremely well, and did a really super job. 1 100-Girls Varsity Tennis Janet Rucci serves a hot one. Susan Lickers volleys it. The girls varsity tennis team did an ex- ceptionally good job. Their only tough competition was Morro Bay. They beat them once and lost to them twice. Mrs. O'NeiII varsity team coach said, This is the strongest team that Atascadero will probably ever have. Their Gutstanding transfer from Paramount, Patty Maltby, contributed greatly to the team and went to individual singles C.l.F. The team had a solid 14-3 re- cord. They finished second in league and went on to C.I.F. Randi Messer gets set

102 For the fifth year in a row the water polo team went to C.l.F. after finishing second in league. Coach Bill Spomer said of the team, We improved a lot this year. Coach Bill Huey comment- ed, At C.l.F. we never quite realized Potential Three members were all league, Brent Cooper, Brock Cooper, and Ken McDougall.
