A few yards east of the auto shop is the new wood shop, opened in September, '65. Students are learning to understand the lan- guage spoken at normal speed. And in spite of many protests that they just can't pronounce an r, they are really beginning to sound like natives. Meanwhile back at the ranch, the English department has an all-new curriculum in the works. Aimed at upperclassmen, these se- mester length courses will provide a more varied and more specialized approach to oral and written communication. With one semester of speech required, students will be able to select courses to fit their own needs and in- terests. Instead of the usual ten pages of Latin we'll only have nine. 12
