She rents the sn'.n'er home of a New York banker who had been reported dead in Colorado some months preceding. She is warned that mysterious things are happening around the house, but she refuses to move. About this time it is discovered that a large sum of money is missing from the dead b:tnl.er's bank immediately, the suspicion is aroused that, far from being dead. he has stolen the morey, hidden it in a secret chamber in his house, and is awaiting a good chalice to sneak back and get it. Four different people are after the money-the batik cashier. played by Jack XVhitsett, wrongfully accused of taking itg a detective, characterized by Noel Becar, engaged by Miss Van tlorder to clear up the mystery g a doctor, acted by George Bryant, friend and supposed confed- erate of the missing banker, and The Bat, a notrious thief who has long eluded the police. 'lihere are mysierious. shivcry rappings and many false leads for the audience to follow. A li t'e coaiedy is added by Lizzy, an old maid it lxiiss Yan Gorder, played by Kay Shonkwiler. An 1: nocent man uh se curitsity gets him into trnuble. er ters the picture. Reginald Berisford is the man. acted by Bob Graham. lierisford is rcnghly handled by the servant, Billy, portrayed by 1'ed Pearson. Then we have romance between the cashier and Miss Dale Ogden, romantically enac.ed by Nlrs. llarbara Yitt, who trims to Leep the affair from everyone else. Richard Flem- ming, who seems to knryv a great deal about the money which is supposed to be in a hidden room. Donald Moore took honors in presenting the dramatic role. The climax is reached by the unknown staggering into the scene, this role being nobly played by XVallace NVQ-bster. A mys- terious fire is stared by The Bat in his attempt to get the money, which fails because of the unknown.
