LARRY PARSONS PRINCIPAL ASPEN HIGH Mr. Larry Parsons has had a variety of teaching exper- iences prior to his position as principal at Aspen High School. He taught English for five years in Oregon, along with coaching basketball and baseball. Mr. Parsons has attained a high level of education. He has a Bachelors and a Masters degree and has completed an administrative program equivalent to a Ph D. During his rare flashes of free time, Mr. Parsons enjoys most recreational sports such as hiking, biking, skiing and tennis. He also has a black belt in karate and has exper- ience in teaching karate as well. Mr. Parsons had different plans for his life when he was a kid. He dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player and after hundreds of pitches, practices and sea- sons, he was offered a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. He declined the contract because he felt his priori- ties were with his education and young family. Parsons has no definite plans for his future but remarks, “I don't think that far ahead, but I am content with my present job. I’m sure my life will continue to be dedicated to education. Many accomplishments have been attributed to Mr Parsons. Aspen High School has become a school of excellence because of new mandatory attendance regula- tions, athletic academic criteria, completely computerized front office and the restructuring of experiential education. Aspen High School has indeed gained much from the service of this dedicated man.
