' a Did you ever write a letter to a friend, knowing that he would not receive and read it for several months? This is somewhat the feeling I have as I write this message in April, 1957, whenl realize that it will not reach your eyes until Fall. The Fall of the year means different things to dif- ferent people around the globe. The Eskimo, for ex- ample, has quite a different impression of Fall than one living on the island of Tahiti. But around Aspen many of us are reminded of falling Aspen leaves, school bells tolling out a beckon to return to school after a summer of vacation fun, the coming of snow, skiing, skating, hunting, football, and other pleasures. But the school year brings with it more than thoughts of fun. It carries, too, a reminder of the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead. A challenge to learn, to grow, to prepare, and to grasp opportunities when they are presented. My personal wish for you this school year would be that you will avail yourself of every opportunity for growth and self-improvement which may come your way, and that this school year will be educationally profitable as well as enjoyable.
