Happy Days Are Here Again REFLECTIONS ASHLAND HIGH SCHOOL ASHLAND, MISSISSIPPI 1975-1976 What is America to me--A name, a map, the flag I see, A certain word, Democracy, What is America to me? --Lewis Allen The house I live in, a plot of earth, a street. The grocer and the butcher and the people that I meet; The children in the playground, the faces that I see; All races, all religions, That's America to me. The place I work in, the worker at my side The little town or city where my people lived and died The howdy and the handshake—the air of feeling free The right to speak my mind out, That's Ameri- ca to me. The things I see about me—the big things and the small The little comer news-stand and the house a mile tall; The wedding and the churchyard, the laughter and the tears. The dream that's been a growin1 for a hundred fifty years. The town I live in—the street, the house, the room. The pavement of the city, or a garden all in bloom. The church, the school, the clubhouse, the million lights I see. But especially the people. That's America to me. i— THE WOMANLESS BEAUTY REVIEW In April, we had about twenty students to enter the womanless beauty review. It was a real suc- cess and was enjoyed by all. The winner and its alternates were selected by judges from the elementary school. The winners were Rosie Hoyle, Most Beauti- ful, Tina Needham, 1st alternate, and Chestine Gibson, 2nd alter- nate. 4 FASHION SHOW Each year Mrs. Bright's home economic girls have a fashion show to model the clothes they have made in class. This year the girls modeled their clothes for us in a spring review. For enter- tainment this year. Penny Der- rick played the part of Edith Ann. air SPORTS Basketball for both the boys and the girls was a success this year. They both had a winning record for this season with the boys traveling to the North Half. The basketball and baseball teams also enjoyed an Athletic Banquet in May which was at- tended by their parents and teachers with Mr. Douglas Autry as guest speaker. THE 1975-76 JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET AND PROIV A NIGHT OF MEMORIES On April 16, 1976, the Ju- niors and the Seniors enjoyed a most successful banquet and prom. These students worked hard planning and decorating both the cafeteria and the gym. But not only did they work hard, they had a good time doing these things together. GRADUATION On May 14, 1976, forty- nine seniors completed their final task at Ashland High. These stu- dents have worked hard during the past twelve years looking forward to this night. We hope that as these seniors leave, they will take with them many memories and experiences of AHS. 10 11 Ding, Dong, Ding, The song of the bell. It was always ready the news to tell.
