STAR TEA CHER MRS. TROY RENICK 101 Selected by the Star Student as the teacher who has made the greatest contribution to the student's education. SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY It is the year 1980, and I (the former TEENA WARD) am taking a good-will tour of the world for my husband, the president of the U.S. When planning this trip, I decided to look-up my old classmates from Ashland High, I do not know where all of them live, but maybe each one I visit can tell me where someone else lives. I know that LANNY SAMPLES, TERRY WILBURN, and THELMA THOMPSON are living in Wash- ington. Lanny owns a most exclusive men’s shop, Terry is manager of the National Bank of Washington, D. C., and Thelma is secretary for the Defense Department. My first stop is in Louisville, Kentucky, where DWIGHT FAULKENBERY meets me at the airport and carries me to see his tobacco plantation, which is the largest in that state. I hear from KAY HOLBROOK and JUDY GODDARD occasionally. Kay is coaching America's greatest women's softball team and Judy is touring with a women's basket- ball team. They live in San Francisco. My next stop is Miami, I fly to Houston, Texas, where MARK SHUFFLING and FIFE WHITESIDE are preparing for their third trip to the moon. Working in the control center, I find HOSIE RICHARD. My next stop is Dallas, where I visit PATTI EDGE, who is a secretary in a large University. When I return to the airport to resume my journey, I see LEATRICE STEWARD and her husband, who is ambassador to Great Britian. They are about to begin a Southern vacation. For my next stop I choose Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I find BETTY CHILDERS and her husband operating a lavish ski resort. Then I decide to travel to the Midwest, where KENNY HUNT owns one of the largest wheat fields in Nebraska. After leaving Nebraska, I go to Chicago, where I see EVON EVANS and CAROL REAVES, who operate a Jet-Set beauty Salon on 5th Avenue. It is now time for me to travel to the Great Northwest and visit TERESA ALBERSON, whose husband owns a large trucking firm there. Teresa and I have a long talk about our high school days, and I tell her about all the people I have seen on my trip. After a two-days' stay in 102 Seattle, I go on to Hawaii, where BRODY CHILDERS is attorney general of that state. Brody tells me that he read in today's paper that STEVIE McBRIDE has been chosen the world's greatest basketball player. He also tells me that TERRY AUTRY is the Commander of American Forces in the Philippines. As I boarded my plane to continue my trip to Moscow, I am surprised to find that DAVID FAULKENBERY is the pilot and BOBBIE RUMSEY the stewardess. When I land in Moscow, JERRYLYN ROYSTON and her husband meet me at the airport. They are studying at the University of Moscow. From Moscow, I go to Sweden, where I visit SANDRA DURHAM, who is there to re- ceive the Nobel Prize for one of her great Novels. The Olympics are being held in Sweden while I am here and JIMMY JEANES is entering the highjumping contest. Upon leaving Sweden, I make my way to Ireland, where I see CHYLEEN MATTHEWS, ALLENE SANDERS, and WAURINE TIPLER who are lab technicians at a large hospital. Upon my return to the States, I find KATIE REAVES singing for a large opera group in New York. Somewhere along the way, someone told me that STEVE GRAVES and DOUGLAS BRITT were on an African safaria. Sorry I missed them, but the jungle is too much for me. After leaving New York, I stop in to see BARBARA MILLER who is now a WAC in the Army. She is stationed in Rhode Island. When I return to my home in Washington, I decide to go home to see my parents. When I arrive at the airport in Memphis, I find BARBARA STEWARD working for one of the airlines. I ask her about CHRISTINE SMITH and LEALOR HICKS, because I missed them on my trip. Barbara tells me that both are married, and Lealor's husband is in service in Canada and she is with him. Christine and her family in Alaska. On returning to Ashland, I find the former PATTY DANIEL teaching music in her home. Now my trip is almost completed, and oh my goodness, I forgot the goodwill part. 103 IN MEMORIA M When Earth's last picture is painted and the tubes are twisted and dried. When the oldest colors have faded, and the youngest critic has died. We shall rest, and, faith, we shall need it--lie down far an aeon or two. Till the master of All Good Workmen shall put us to work anew. And those that were good shall be happy: They shall sit in a golden chair; They shall splash at a ten-league canvas with brushes of comet's hair. They shall find real saints to draw from Magalene, Peter, and Paul; They shall work for an age at a sitting and never be tired at all! And only the Master shall praise us, and only the Master shall blame; And no one shall work for money, and no one shall work for fame, But each for the joy of the working, and each, in his separate star. Shall draw the Thing as he sees It for the God of Things as They are! - -Kipling IN MEMORIAM Sunset and evening star. And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar When I put out to sea, --Tennyson TOMMY GRESHAM—Killed in action in Vietnam. IN MEMORIA M FREDDIE TIPLER But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam. When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. 106 --Tennyson IN MEMORIAM DEBBYE WEATHERLY Twilight and evening bell. And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell When I embark. 107 --Tennyson Oh really, Mrs. Rutherford! 5 N A P What's so funny? S H O T We thought you were on a diet, Mr. J. Kenny, don't you wish you had some sunglasses? Mrs. Hobson, where is your office! Are you cold Julie? We're making rotten eggs, better hold your nose. 133 Where is everybody?? K Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair. And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same. And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh! I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference.
