• • - THE 1966 YEARLING STRIVES TO RECAPTURE MEMORIES OF OUR TEAR AT ASHLAND HIGH SCHOOL ASHLAND, MISSISSIPPI MR. DTE In sincere appreciation for his honesty and patience, for his humility and good-humor toward us, and for his untiring support of our many un- dertakings, we, the Annual Staff, lovingly dedicate the 1966 YEARLING to our principal, Mr. Travis Dye. 2 ADMINISTRATION COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT The 1965-66 school session has been an enjoyable and most profitable one. There has been a very pleasant association with faculty members and students. Because your educational growth is a continuous process through life, it will never be completely finished. If a school is to progress toward its educational aims and objectives each teacher must be conscious of the fact that the school needs his or her entire support and influence. I hope that you will continue to take an active part in boosting your school throughout the years. No nation is greater than its teach- ers, parents, students and school system. I believe that, to a certain degree, a nation's integrity is measured by the products the schools turn out. Abraham Lincoln once said, I will study and get ready and one day my chance will come. ' May I leave this thought with you as we go our way and may you ever strive to be ready to take advantage of your chance when it comes your way. Sincerely J.D. Bennett County Superintendent of Education 4 PRINCIPAL From the very beginning, the world and its people have been going through con- stant change. Sometimes these changes have come about very slowly. At other times they have come about very rapidly. There has been no other period in the history of mankind that change has been as profound as it is today. Those people who have educated their minds can better adjust to these changes. Those who have not taken advantage of the many opportunities to obtain an education will find themselves living in a world of frustration. Ashland School has many opportunities for each of you. Take advantage of these opportunities and years from now when you are looking at your yearbook you can say, I’m glad I did, instead of, I wish I had. You are the finest group of students I have ever known. I am proud of you. I solicit your continued cooperation and understanding. Congratulations to the Annual Staff and their sponsor for an outstanding year- book. Sincerely, jfUwCi- £f. IN' 5 Travis E.
