English College, M.A. - Speech, English Eloretta Harrington and Mrs. Rowe appear very niueh amused at the records John Rozentals and Carol Johnson have chosen to play for the second-year Spanish class. For any pupil to whom a foreign language has an appeal Ashland High School provides a numlwer of classes, each one of which is under the instruction of capahle teachers. Latin is taught as a hasic course for the romance languages hut is not a prerequisite for those studies. In Latin, the student also acquires a lwackground of Creek and Roman history, mythology, and laws and custom. The fundaf mental course in Latin is followed lay reading Caesar's Commentaries, Vergilis Aencid, Cie' ero's orations, and Sallust's history. Since many students prefer to pursue one ol the modern languages, courses in Erench and Spanish are availahle. Both of these languages are prcscntcd so wholcfheartcdly and cnthusif astically that they come alive for the students. The use of recordings lightens the drudgcry of studying grammar and allows the pupil to perfect his pronunciation.
