NOVEMBER l l NOVEMBER l2 NOVEMBER l4 NOVEMBER 20 NOVEMBER 2l NOVEMBER 20 2l and 22 NOVEMBER 25 NOVEMBER 26 DECEMBER 2 DECEMBER 3 DECEMBER 5 DECEMBER 8 Ashland played the last football game of the season wlth Louusvulle on the home grndnron Ashland won by a mar gun of 45 O The Speech Class gave one of the best convocatuons a one act play Amernca Unlumlted whlch was agannst soclal and raclal preludnce The Junsor Class presented their play a three act com edy Take Your Medlcune Gene Blrdsall entertamed with two songs Apple Blossom Wedding and When You Were Sweet Snxteen between the acts The Sophomore Convocation was a one act comedy called Herbie Gets the Mumps They showed promus :ng talent for future plays to come ln later years Jackie Lewis Frank Beckman and Catherme Ballou took the Peps: Cola Scholarshlp tests They were elected for thus honor by the popular vote of the class Bull Scott Delores Gade Shnrley Bates Gene Burdsall and Rose Mary Castner represented Ashland at the Musuc Clnnnc held at Kearney thus year The Freshmen lnntnatuon was given by the Sensors an form of a Convocation nn whuch each Freshman was requured to do somethung that was given hum by a Sensor Some pranks they were requured to do were a dressung Mass Bradden took over the Study Hall for a musucal convocatuon presented by all of her students which an cluded Kmdergarten to Hugh School The Thanksgnvung theme was carrled throughout the entlre program The Basketball Season started off wnth a bang when the Ashland Bluejays knocked Lounsvnlle off their schedule by a score of 2l 40 The new scoreboard glven by the Pep Club gave an added attraction to the audlence The Football Season came to an end of a very successful year with the Athletic Banquet which was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce Mlnuature footballs served as place cards The lunchroom cooks prepared the meal which was served by ten sensor gurls Durung the meal speeches on educatuon were given by Superintendent P D Pyle Prnncnpal K C Wules and Mayor O H Lohr The Unuverslty of Nebraska Freshman coach Pop Klune was the guest speaker The program conslsted of a vocal solo by Gene Bnrdsall accompanied by Tullle Burr two selections by the trumpet trno and a humorous read Ing glven by Alan Lewns To conclude the program Pop Kline showed the tulm Nebraska vs Oregon State and explamed the plays Ashland had another vuctorlous night by defeatnng the Papnlluon quuntet on their home court Ashland won by a score of 36 l8 The Clvlcs Class, under the durectlon of Joe Moss held I I 11 - - - 11 - - - 1 I . . JANUARY 23 JANUARY 27 JANUARY 30 JANUARY 3l FEBRUARY 3 FEBRUARY 5 FEBRUARY 6 FEBRUARY l3 FEBRUARY l7 FEBRUAPY l7 FEBRUARY 20 FEBRUARY 27 FEBRUARY 28 MARCH l MARCH 3 4 Ashland s oldest ruval Wahoo was on the bottom of a very small score of 28 to lo Although the score was small ut was unterestung as the two teams played a very good game Muss Woutzel had a group of students from both grade and hugh school together for a good nught performance Thus group showed fune talent for later recutals One of the most excutung games of the season was the nught the Blueuays traveled to Blaur for a real thruller The Ashland fuve were traulung at the half but they came back fughtung to wun wuth a score of 43 to 34 The Pep Club presented a Sadue Hawkuns party The Spunster s Spree The gurls squured the boys for an eve nung of dancung Each gurl also brought a plate of home made fudge whuch was a very enjoyable treat The entertaunment was provuded by the separate classes of the Pep Club and the Sadue Hawkuns theme was carrued throughout For another vuctory the Blueuays traveled to Bellevue to wun wuth a score of 42 to 22 The Ashland Volleyball gurls had a very decusuve vuctory over Gretna wuth a score of 56 to l8 Ashland handed Plattsmouth a 53 to 32 defeat on the Blueuays floor The Blueuays were never un danger dur ung the enture game The Blueuays lost theur second game of the season to the Valley fuve by a score of 4l to 32 A lyceum number was presented to the Ashland students by Barbaruta a Spanush dancer who explauned and demonstrated varuous steps of the Spanush dances The Blueuays won a close game at Weepung Water bv a score of 4l to 38 Ashland lost uts last game of the season to College Vuew by a close score of 33 to 34 The score weaved back and forth un every quarter The orchestra uunuor orchestra band and tonette en mble presented a serues of well prepared selectuons They were enuoyed by all who attended The Ashland cagesters traveled to Doane to play the Doane B team Of course Doane won The funal outcome was 38 to 3l The debaters from Doane college furnushed a very enter taunung mornung for th students of Ashland Hugh School debatung on the subue t Resolved for a World Federal Government They had had a lot of experuence un th lune of debate and hav been doung very well un theur prevuous meets F r the class B tournaments Ashland got off to a good start by defeatung St Joseph s ot Omaha by a score of 43 to 33 ln the semu funals Ashland was defeated by theur old ruval Wahoo by a close score of 25 to 24 We had defeated Wahoo earluer un the season 28 to lo r 1 . 1 1 u , .
