it sat? Ri! SENIOR CLASS PLAY Georgia Thayer, a pretty young eastern girl, has in- herited the Crazy Canyon ranch in Arizona from her uncle. Accompanied by two friends, Jennifer Fairchild and Anne Payson she comes West to operate the ranch Q believing nt to be flourishing If 4' and prosperous Upon or rival the gurls discover that the outfit lacks in all the essentials to make it opera tive to wit horses cattle and cowboys Wild Eyed Willie a coma cal and typical old time western character is the only occupant of the ranch He tells the girls that the reason the place is named Crazy Canyon ranch because the cattle have been mysteriously disappearing from it for years Desperate the girls decide to operate the establishment as a dude ranch They advertise in a Phoenix newspaper and employ the services of Minnie Winnie Ninnue pretty Indian girl from a near by reservation to lend at mosphere That same day Georgia is paid a visit by Peter Sheldon who owns the near by Do Re Me ranch Peter is the son of Georgia s uncle s bitter enemy and since has father's death has become sole proprietor of the Do Re Me It is revealed that Georgia owns certain water rights which are neces sary to the successful operation of the Do Re Me Peter, in order to get her to sell endeavors to frighten the girls into leaving by employing Standing Cow a ferocious looking Indian However complications arise when Peter discovers he is in love with Georgia This discovery comes too late as Georgia has already learned of Peter s efforts to scare her off Sheriff Jim Courtney arrives and announces that two dangerous crimi nals are at large in the vicinity Shortly after this Mr and Mrs Elijah Stockbond arrive in response to the girls newspaper advertisement CAST Georgia Thayer Jennifer Fairchild Anne Payson Peter Sheldon Wild Eyed Willie Minnie Winnie Ninnie Standing Cow Jim Courtney fThe Sheriffl Elijah Stockbond Phoebe Stockbond Miss Prim Catherine Ballou Jackie Lewis Shirley Raikes Jack Anderson Max Welch Ruth Newsham Frank Beckman LaVerne Neumann Gene Birdsall Ruth Lind Bobby Young I fe K 5 Mgfgk . af, ,X . SEPTEMBER l SEPTEMBER l6 SEPTEMBER I9 SEPTEMBER 26 OCTOBER 3 OCTOBER OCTOBER OCTOBER OCTOBER l7 OCTOBER 20 OCTOBER 22 OCTOBER 23 2 OCTOBER 28 OCTOBER 31 NOVEMBER 7 School Calendar 185 students began a new school year 44 freshmen 50 sophomores 33 yunuors and 58 sensors The fnrst lyceum number was gnven by Elsa Moegle a harpist who had performed before executives an the White House The Bluelays lost the furst football game of the season to the College Vuew eleven The game was especnally rugged for both sides because of the swelterlng after noon College Vnew won 6 0 Another defeat was handed the Bluepays by a strong Omaha Cathedral team Thus was the first home game and was played under the lnghts before a record crowd as a part of the annual stnr up attraction A score of 7 0 was regnstered Ashland began a senes of vnctorues by defeating Platts mouth l3 7 ln a hard and fast game The maxed chorus presented a program whnch consnsted of some promusnng young voices Ashland continued :ts wlnnlng streak by defeating the Valley eleven by a score of 25 0 The second musical convocatnon was given by the an strumental department Thus demonstrated the proaress of learnlng to play an Instrument The program ended wuth several solos by the more advanced students Ashland defeated Bellevue by a 20 0 score on Bellevue s grldlron Our second lyceum number was guven by a native of the Oklahoma lnduan Reservation Chlef Youngbear gave an excel'ent explanatuon of the lnduan customs and habvts The Bluejays defeated Weeping Water by a large score of 45 0 The school enloyed a much needed vacation as the teachers went to the annual Teachers Conventaon at Llncoln The theme of the first party was hard times Everyone came as characters from a Vagabond s Holuday Some orugunal sknts were put on by the sophomore class mem bers Another vlctory for the Bluejays was played on the muddy gruduron at Blanr The players were almost unrec ognuzable as they came from the fneld at the end of the game The score was 7 0 One of the most Important and excutlng games of the season was on the nnght that we plaved the Wahoo Warriors Durlng the half the Ashland band led by the American Leguon Color Guard gave an excellent un: formed performance Governor Val Peterson and Coach Bernie Masterson were the two dustungulshed speakers for the dedlcatlon of the stadlum Ashland won by cl score of 20 0 9 - I 1 .
