Stadium on November 7 On the transcription ot this ceremony over radio station WOW the band could be heard playing several numbers I marching drills the band was led by Drum Major Jacquelyn Lewis and Field Officer Darlene Sowards The flag bearer was Catherine Thiessen and the color guards were .loan Richards and l.aVone Vance Acting as flag twirlers Ruth Newsham Shirley Raikes Dalene Livers and Charlene Livers made a strikingly colorful addition to Intermission performances In the latter part ot November this organization was represented at the State Music Clinic by Bill Scott and his outstanding trumpet playing With the beginning of basketball season the band settled down to practice more serious music which was Included IN the February concert One ot these pieces was Coronation a striking composition by Joseph Skornicka This concert was thoroughly enjoyed by o large crowd The Instru which was held at Fremont on April I6 I7 The work of the Instrumental music department IS a pleasure to the entire community as IIS musical numbers torm an Integral part ot all school programs and the members are counted upon heavily to appear before various CIVIC organizations As head of the Instrumental Music Department for the past nine years Miss WoItzel has worked tirelessly to give her students an opportunity to exercise their musical talent to give entertainment In the auditorium and to give Inspiration on the athletic field FIRST TRUMPETS S LaVerne Neumann George Gade SECOND TRUMPETS Kenneth Folsom Lloyd Dirnmitt Bob Fricke Kathryn Leddy THIRD TRUMPETS Tom Squire Dick I-Iaswell l'scIth Wollen Bernard Eato BAND SECTIONS BARITONES Margaret Leddv Marilyn Miller TUBAS Alon Lewis Richard Porter FRENCH I-IORNS Gene Birdsall Del Starns Jessie Sims TROMBON Jim Turner Harold Peterson Jon Sandy Maryorie Finney SAXOPI-ION Pat Young Don Slarna Bob Ra ke Ruth I Ind E E . . Junior Class Play The first class play of the year was the Junior Class Play, a three-act comedy, Take Your Medicine, which was presented on November I4 I5 l947 The play centers around Bill Jackson a Dr of Phi losophy and a college pro fessor But his fiancee Angela has a wealthy uncle who is pregudnced against professors So when Angela brings Bill to meet Uncle Henry at the hospital Uncle Henry accepts him as a Dr and promised to pay Bill S50 OOO for the first life he saves Unfortunately for Bill several situations happen to arise when he has to play the Dr one being an appendicitis case to which he finally consents much against his will Then there are the antics of the two hospital roommates Dodson and Puckett to keep things in an uproar And also Jack the witty orderly and Dovie Finkledink another patient lt s a wonder the nurses were able to keep order or did they?
