Morehead Awards John Calabrese, Carter Clements, and Julie Cline were nominated to be in contention for the More- head Scholarship, which is a full scholarship to the University of North Caro- lina at Chapel Hill. NCASC Convention Cindy Friday, Edwin Martin, Nata Hering, and Elizabeth Brooks were chosen to be voting dele- gates at the convention of the North Carolina Associ- ation of Student Councils in the fall of 1974. WDNCASC Convention Eddie Browning, Karen Novinc, and Ricky Bryant represented Ashbrook as voting delegates to the Western District of North Carolina Association of Student Councils Con- vention in the spring of 1975.

Sharon spent a week studying government with girls from all over North Carolina. Same Governor's School Carol Carothers was selected to at- tend the Governor's School for the su m- mer of 1974 to study dance. Held at Salem College in Winston-Salem, the Governor's School is a seven-week sum- mer school for gifted students. I National Merit Semi-Finalistsof North Carolina Carol Brong, John Calabrese, Carter Clements, and Tom Frey were chosen as National Merit Semi-Finalists by showing outstanding scholastic achievement. Meet Nata Ashbrook's AFS student this year is from Germany, Miss Renata Hering, known to everyone as Nata. When at home with her American family, the Keathleys, Nata enjoys writing, drawing, piano, and violin. At school, Nata is a member of the SCA, ICC, and she attends SEC meetings. Nata is also a member of the First Presbyterian Church Choir and the Girl Scouts.
