We've a message to give to the nations, That the Lord who reigneth above, Hath sent His Son to save us, And show us that God is love. Bvt: SY We've a song to be sung to the nations, That shall lift their hearts to the Lord: A song that shall conquer evil, And shatter the spear and the sword. ESSER ER VIERA POOLED NI Gn fod ee We've a Savior to show to the nations, Who the path of sorrow hath trod, That all of the world's great people Might come to the truth of God. WD eotion Harold was one who heard God's call twice—FIRST, to prepare that he might take the gospel of Christ to the multitudes of India and SEC- OND, to be with Him. He spent his moments living zestfully while work- ing toward the one supreme goal of his lite—to take the message of his Saviour to those in darkness. He was a living proof of the truth that God chooses the cream of the world's youth for the honor and trust of carrying His good news to the corners of the earth; a departed evidence that the Father knows much that His children may never understand while here on earth, and that He yearns for the companionship of His own chosen. Some 97 of Asbury's Alumni have responded to the call of God to be foreign ambassadors for Him. We are proud of the work of these heralds of the gospel in the mission fields of the world. It is to them and to the memory of Harold that we af- fectionately dedicate the 1952 SEMINARIAN, with the hope that it may challenge our hearts to renewed missionary endeavor. Be 1 Siatp, . Almost 100 of the alumni, 97 to be exact are now heralds of the blessed gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in the mission fields of the world, The compulsion of the missionary message for the redemption of the peoples who sit in dark- ness, through the power of Christ, has sent grad- uates of the seminary out unto the ends of the earth. They are now preaching and teaching in 23 countries of the world, including the lands of Asia, Africa, North America, Oceania, and South America. A stream of students are now coming to the seminary from other lands who will go back to Os ELEOM preach the gospel to their own people. Places of large responsibility and opportunity await these evangels of the cross, because of their unique fitness in knowledge of their native tongue and understanding of their racial and national problems. Five of the twenty foreign students, representing eleven different countries, graduate this year. We already have applica- tions from five other foreign students for the school year 1952-53. A perennial stream of Spirit-filled mission- aries are are on the march from the campus of Asbury Theological Seminary to carry the glo- rious gospel message that the lands which now sit in darkness may see a great light, that the oppressed may be liberated, and that the lost may be saved unto an uttermost salvation. SA CHP ae ee ee eee Oooo ee FEE EEE w oa Turkington By their fruits ye shall know them, has been the distinguishing char- acteristic of Spirit-filled men down across the Christian centuries. The fruitage of such a life is to be seen in the influence of our own Dean Turkington. As a respected teacher and capable administrator, he has represented to us a high ideal of Christian learning. His classes in New Testament have added inspiration to facts, and his calm Christian spirit has won our confidence. With the future before us, we trust that we | might be ambassadors of this same spirit, as our Lord calls us into all the world. | WILLIAM D. TURKINGTON i | ; j ' t W. C. The offi- cers of the first are elected by the student body and they are in turn responsible for appointing the program staff. A general director serves si- multaneously as head of the two groups. Lyle Flinner served in this capacity during the summer and fall quarters being replaced by Nathan Bond winter and spring quarters. ‘Gems of Grace’ was originally a fifteen min- ute Sunday morning program on station WHIR. The program time has now been extended to thirty minutes and is heard every Sunday after- noon on the Versailles station at 1:30 p. m.
