Under the aid and supervis- ion of Mrs. Frances Middleton, Senior High Home Econom- ics teacher, girls are trained in almost ev- ery phase of their role as future home- makers. This year the girls began by working in E the foods room, where they discussed Nutri- tion and Digestion. They studied canning, freezing, pickeling, and pre- serving -- applying the facts they had learned doing actual work in these fields. Also, they baked yeast breads, cakes and pies. Following the study of foods, they moved to the sewing room, where they studied Colors and Tex- tiles. Using these studies as a background, the tenth grade girls made jumpers, the eleventh and twelfth grade girls made jerseys and dresses. The final touch to their'sewing projects was a very fine fash- ion show based on a "skit" and featuring their fin- ished garments. To complete the year, the Senior girls studied and discussed problems concerning Marriage and the Family. The tenth grade girls studied home nursing, laundering, mending, and home decorating. mix m 54 YA 'I ...UV X.-4.,.,, 1' xl. SEASON REVIEW Arundel captured their first Anne Arundel County Soccer Champ- ionship by defeating Glen Burnie once, Annapolis twice, and Southern twice. The only defeat of the six game schedule was to Glen Burnie in the season's opener. In the last game of the season against South- ern, an Arundel win would clinch the title while a loss would mean a tie. Arundel came through with 3 goals and emerged County Champions.
