Recognize Achievement AGRICULTURE AWARD LOVELL KAIN, for outstanding work in agriculture, was the 1951 winner of the Dekalb Award. ART AWARDS MARGARET CARTIER won a gold key in the regional Scholastic Art Contest for her entry in the general art division. PATSY FISCHER was awarded a gold key in costume designing. JOAN FORBES, the first sophomore ever to earn a gold key, took hers in general art. HARRY GRAHAM won two gold keys in the water color division. FIRST-PRIZE WINNERS in the Annual Woman’s Club Art Contest were NANCY McCAULEY’S “Duck” in the ceramic division; RUTH CASE’S “Donkey”’ in the plastic sculpturing; JACQUELINE EMMITT in metal work; and PATRICIA PATTERSON in textile painting. SECOND-PRIZE WINNERS were RICHARD SHULER in plastic sculpturing, and HILDRED SCHAEFF in basket weaving. ELAINE WINTERSTEIN won third place in basket weaving. MUSIC AWARDS FIRST PLACE RATINGS in the District Contest were awarded to WIL- LIAM BIRDSALL and RUTH GLASS, clarinetists; violinist ROBERT KNOWLES, and EDITH SPARKS, clarinetist. RUTH GLASS also won Girls’ State Award. BETTY HOERAUF won a scholarship to Wayne University for her ex- cellence in baton twirling.
