Seated at the Youth Table at Parent Teacher Association Founders Banquet are Mary Katherine Lent, of Saginaw High, and Don Becker, of Arthur Hill, both student representatives for the occasion. Another group enjoying potluck are members of Mr. Harold Giesecke’s advisory. This potluck is always a festive affair with students decorating, the adviser playing host, and all members of families in the advisories coming with food for the family prepared ready to serve. Potluck has grown in popularity until two sessions were necessary this year. The south half of the school gathered April 11 and the north half, April 18. A news cast directed by the journalism department and election of officers were the program features. Patiently waiting for a piece of that lucious cake, served by Doris Alberts are Jean Akerley, Ann Akerley, Mrs. Earl Avery, and Marliyn Avery. Open House provides opportunity for parents to consult teachers about student work after the first grades are issued. While Miss Burnice Gibbs chats with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Henry St. Clare enter the room. Arthur Hill Parents, teachers, and students gather once each year for a meal together at the P-TA Potluck held in April. The occasion presents unique table decorations and tasty food prepared through the cooper- ation of the advisory groups. The potluck also is a time for the renewal of old friendships and the making of new ones as it is an informal gathering. Enjoying the event are, left to right, Mr. and Mrs. Hassen, Thelma Hassen, and Mrs. Sheldon Harmon. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carpenter and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson en- joy refreshments after an evening of cards. The proceeds of this event finance the student welfare work for the entire year. Mrs. Vincent J. Lager, a friend, and Mr. H. V. Bradley are prepared to help serve the buffet luncheon at the card party. Mrs. Church lives in Kalamazoo. Representing Arthur Hill at the event were Mr. Stanley D. Schubert, Don Becker, Joan Stobbart, who took the picture, and Principal I. M. Brock. Miss Nelle Haley, director of Elementary Educa- tion, is seated with Mrs. Church. Open House for parents starts activities of the Parent-Teacher Associa- tion for the year.
