NOON CLUB provides an opportunity for Hillites to relax during their lunch hour. Gathered around the juke box are: JOE NEWMAN, BILL BRUTON, ED MORGAN, TERRY ANDRE, LARRY MULHOLLAND, WALTER HAINES, BRUCE SEYMORE, and JIM JAKES. These are the students who keep the records spinning for Hillites whether they dance or just listen. THE CLINIC is open at any hour of the school day. Students go to the health room and find student nurses to assist them. Attendants receive Arthur: Hill their knowledge for the position via the home nursing class. The weekly visit of Miss Viola Pasel, R.N. gives aid and directions in how to care for the more seriously ill students. A typical scene in the health room is portrayed by patient LILA WEHNER and student nurse MARILYN MILLER. STUDENT STORE ASSISTANTS keep the pupils of Arthur Hill supplied with paper, erasers, and pencils. Here JOAN KLEIN and JANET KRAUSE are decorating the window for Easter. OFFICE PRACTICE CLASS members check attendance records, stencil tests and study outlines for members of the faculty. Gaining experience through this class are: ELLEN WEISS, NORMA DAY, MADGE FOSTER, and BETTY MEAD. CAFETERIA ASSISTANTS stack trays and dry dishes. During the fourth hour lunch period CHARLES GROSS, AUGUST LEASCH, FERGUS TAIT, and NORMAN GROSS are drying silverware. 15

Se eed Speer eee STUDENT ASSISTANTS Take A Hand In The Management SENIOR HOSTESSES greet visitors, show them around school, and run errands for the office staff. These girls are selected on the basis of qualifications, vacant hour, and references. Spending an hour each day in the community room are: GLORIA DUWE, CAROL REAMS, MARI- LYN AVERY, NANCY MACK, BETTY ANDERSON, JOAN WEBER, and seated: KATHERINE TUNIS. CHOOSING TALENT and planning schedules for assemblies is the task of the Assembly Committee. Students and teachers serving on the com- mittee are: RICHARD HAUSLER, JAMES KEARFUL, KATHERINE TUNIS, RICHARD DREWYER, JUDY MORETTI, MRS. FRANCES HAMLIN, MISS BURNICE GIBBS, MISS MARY LEWIS, MISS CONSTANCE McWETHY, and MRS. NANCY BAXTER. THE USHERS in crisp white blouses and dark skirts are familiar figures in the auditorium during assemblies, plays, and concerts. In return for this work they receive a paid up SO. This year’s members include, standing: JO ANN NYE, TERRY HUMPAL, ADA SHEPERD, LETA JO AUSTIN; seated: JOAN FERREL, MARY MILLER, and JEAN DORN. Not in the picture are: Sally Fentner, Shirley Kuehn, Lois Nye, and Edwin Richter. PROJECTION CREW members are always ready to “run off’ a reel of film for any class or department. Under supervision of Mr. Seymour Murphy, CHARLES GROBE, JOHN BARNETT, EUGENE BUDD, JOHN BLOOMSTROM, and BRUCE SANDERS serve the school by manning the audio-visual aid equipment. “LIGHTS! CURTAINS!” These familiar words start the stage crew into action. Under the supervision of Mr. Stanley D. Schubert, the boys run the lighting, the props, sound effects, and curtain on each stage per- formance. IN MANY CLASSES there are the students who wish to extend their activities beyond class work. They are interested in work that allows an informal view point on the various subjects. From this desire clubs have stemmed, giving the students a chance to become active in school affairs, to meet other students, and to enjoy an enlarged social life. Because so many students belong to several clubs it would be duplicating again and again to picture the officers of each club separately. In the Science De- partment are Alchemist, Biology, Crucibles, Future Homemakers of America, and Future Farmers of America Clubs. The Mathematics Department sponsors the Pythagorians. Recently Future Teachers and Future Nurses have organized. Language clubs consist of French, German, Latin, and Spanish. Journalism achievement is honored with membership in Quill Scroll Society. In the dra- matic work, Arts-Dramatics Club is the goal. Music Department students try out for BOC Club. For exercise, the Bowling, Rifle, and Pep Clubs offer enter- tainment. The Commercial Department sponsors Co-ops, the retailing club. Service Clubs include Hi-Y, Y-Teens, and Miracle Book Clubs.
