I czff f , 'f ,Y Q.. CL f l - I' .L ,A gr... V: I x Business Ed.- This department is composed mostly of secretarial courses, such as typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, and model office. The Business Ed. Department also specializes in courses designed for students who plan to be business majors, such as Business English and Business Law. Notehand and Personal Typing were also offered in this department as semester courses to help out the college prep students. Fine Arts- Each course offered by this department made life at Artesia more enjoyable this year. The courses included Arts, all the singing groups, Band, Photography, T.V. Production, Drama, Crafts, and Annual Staff. These classes added a change of pace to the schedule of each student participating in this department. Industrial Arts- Industrial Arts included Drafting, Electronics, Metal Shop, and Auto Shop. The only main change in this department this year was the encouragement given to the girls of Artesia to take an Auto Shop class by Mr. Shell. He said that it would save each of the girls a lot of money later in their lifes. Home Ec- The Home Ec. Department added a new class to their department this year. It is entitled A Child and his World. The class itself worked very closely with the newly established childrens' center on our campus. Personal Psychology another of the new ways that are used to analyze a person and their mind. Besides these two courses the department includes the basic skill classes' sewing which has added lingerie and sewing with knits and cooking, which includes Coed Foods and Mexican Cooking. Emphasis was placed on improving skills and especially on the enjoyment of the game. This year G.A.A. sports were made a part of C.I.F. The girls competed in many sports in league play. Boys' P.E.- Boys' P.E. also offered a very extended list of activities in which the boys could participate. Each boy was given a choice of four or more events to compete in each semester ofthe year.
