"21' f """f Thermon was born February 16, 1940 in Bisbee, Arizona. His first year of school was in 1947 at Comanche, Texas. His second year of school was in the Artesia District in 1948. He attended Luther Burbank School during his third and fourth grades. He then went to Faye Ross in the fifth grade and finished his elementary education there. Thermon brought home many ribbons from track events in his elementary grades. He made a record of 16 feet 6 inches in a broad lump in 1954 at Faye Ross and still holds the record there. He was also a member of the championship basketball team at Artesia Park in 1954. Thermon participated in all the sporting events in elementary school. He especially excelled in track and football. He received the Kiwanis Award for the Outstanding Boy r!
