Opening against Bloomington, April 14, the cindermen won both relay events to cinch a 63 llfl2 to 51 lfl2 verdict alter the Panthers had come dangerously close at the completion of the individual events. At Kokomo, April 18, Coach lxlyers' runners over- whelmed the Kats, 7l1f3 to -1515. The thinlies toolc eight of the individual events, tied in the vault, and won the 1,500-yard relay. Wiley ol Terre Haute was next on the schedule, April 22, and the Green dropped its First meet, 75 IX6 to 41 5f6. Tech came luaclc strong to capture both relays, hut Vviley was too lar ahead to catch. Tech entered the Southport Relays. April 26, to defend its title of last year when it accepted the invita- tion for the first lime. The Green and Vvhite counted for 23 points for a tie with Manual for fourth. Eight records toppled in the meet, Tech cutting the old mile relay maria of 3138.6 to 3:36. The winning combination was com- posed of Wayne Barnett, Gerald Burrows, Neal Benson, and Dicli Lowish. Chucli Fisher missed equalling the high jump record lay only 1A of an inch. Coming from loehind to tally 18 points in relays lor a total of 5-1, Tech continued city traclc supremacy for the eighth consecutive year lay squeezing lay Shortridge hy two points. Chuck Fisher turned in the only tirst place in any individual event while the Greens' team lyalance accounted for a majority of points in second, third and fourth places to swing the decision.
