V RITY In their third year in the Sierra League, the Arroyo Knights' varsity squad of 1959-60 walked away with the League title for the third time. Coached by Forrest Dillon, Varsity head coach, and assistant coach Frank Clayton, the team won in all five of their league tilts. Although the Knights improved with each game there were few individual standouts this seasong rather it was a year in which team effort won over the rivals. It took a while but by the night of the Glendora game the offense was feeling its oats, much more so than in the previous games. With the exception of the fullback, the entire backfield was made up of stand-ins for quite a few of the games because of injuries suffered by certain first-stringers. Both Meisyer and Mullican filled in very well. Despite the number of injuries, the teams fought hard and with the defeat of Azusa were assured of the Sierra League Crown. Following the last league win against San Gabriel the Knights met Redlands for the CIF playoff but were defeated.
