I U IOR VARSITY The j.V. tennis team is under the fine leadership of Coach Cline, although they might be a little short of material. Coach Allison's varsity took most of the lettermen from last year's fine j.V. team. The j.V. tennis team compiled a pre-season record of 4 wins against 6 losses. However, the IV. team played some of the toughest teams in the San Gabriel Valley. They should do well in league play. Bob Hittinger-top man on the ladder-is doing well in league play. Robbie Gunstream and Bob Mitchell make up the strong first doubles team for the Knights. VARSITY This year's varsity team started the season with eight varsity lettermen. Prospects were good and the team played up to expec- tations, winning all ten of their practice matches. Highlights were wins over Montebello, Arcadia and the unexpected win over San Marino, a team never before defeated in dual matches and winners of 89 straight. After losing a disappointing match to Glendora 5-4 in their second league match, they now stand 5-l in League and l5-1 on the year. It is a very tough league with 3 top tennis contenders: San Gabriel, Glendora, and Arroyo. If they win 6 in a row they will be league champions. Top men besides Captain Rabb are: Charles Hunter, only sophomore, and number 2 man, Wayne Knight, Mike Milne, john Harvey, Fred Van Schoelandt, Ron Sptunger, Henry Game- ster, Alan Ramsey, and Jack Mullins. ll'l 1 i Bob Basset.
