D.A.R. Award; Boys’ and Girls’ State Sally Barnett, D.A.R. Award D.A.R. Good Citizen Winner Sally Barnett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barnett, was one of five area winners of the 1985 D.A.R. Good citizenship awards. Selections are made by high school student bodies, teachers, and superintendents. Letters of recommendation by a community leader and a questionnaire on historical American facts are also judged by a district D.A.R. Good Citizen’s committee. Essay topics for the group are Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility to Preserve It.” Boys’ and Girls’ State During Girls' State Stacy had a chance to meet many new people from all over the state. While she was at Girls’ State, she learned how Oklahoma Government was set up and run. She took part in electing officials and participating in legislative action. Stacy also did some sightseeing and received college credit when tested over the week’s activities. At Boys’ State Gary and Casey had similar experience.
