Only the best actors and actresses are permitted to ioin this highly esteemed organization. ln order to gain membership, a person must accumulate a cer- tain number of thespian points. These points are awarded for performances in plays and musicals. When the prospec- tive member has accumulated twenty or more points, he is voted on by the present members of the organization. Only those actors and actresses who display the finest ideals of the dramatic arts will be voted into membership. As a thes- pian goes farther into this field, he can be awarded the coveted distinction of Honor Thespian. Several members of the Academy's Thespian troupe, Troupe l3O, have achieved this distinction. Under the leadership of Mr. James Hannon, the advisor, and Richard Fitzgerald, Troupe l3O has ranked high in national comparisons. The members of the Forensic League are the elite of the orators throughout the nation. ln order to become a member of National Forensics, a person must accumulate a certain number of points for his speaking. These points are awarded on the basis of the place of finish in a contest or tournament. The different chapters of NFL are compared on the basis of total points accumulated by their members. The Academy's chapter ha-s long been rated highly on this list. Mr. James Hannon, the advisor to this chap- ter, has coached his team well in the past years and this year was no exception. Richard Ede, the president of the Aca- demy's chapter, Mike Mahan, the vice-president, Robin Mil- ler, and Robert Birch have won the highest numbers of points in the chapter. Members of NFL have attended Student Congresses and have performed in individual events through- out the year. The Academy can rightfully be proud of its speakers who brought back the trophies and awards this year.
