E NINETEEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SIX CA OFF Ma-you J. L. Wusa Although Major joseph L. Wier, Head- master of the High School division, has instructed at this Academy for only two years, his dominating influence has made a lasting impression. Perhaps it is his quaint mannerisms or the style in which he expounds the dignity of Latin and Algebra. Wfhatever his magnetism, it tends to make one have a more attractive in- terest in the man and his work. Wliilc- serving in the capacity of Head- master, many contributions of wisdom have been offered to consulting cadets, who appreciate such graciousness, return- ing more often to learn of his sagacity. Thus, a deep regard for the ability of the Major is respected by faculty and students, and much is expected of him in the future. ICERS CAPTAIN ELMER Scunuiza When a man comes to a military school and wirhin two years is placed in position of high trust, it is ample proof of the character of that man. So it has been with Captain Scudcler. He became af- filiated with the Academy in 1934. In 1935 he was made Assistant Com- mandant, with wide disciplinary powers. Graduated from West Point in 1928, his training gave him a valuable insight to the workings of the best military school. He has incorporated many new methods into academy life with great success. An unintentionally eloquent bit of praise describes the esteem in which he is held, and was voiced when a private said, It doesn't seem right, but if Scudder says so, I guess it's O. K. I 5 jf ff? TH :ay .i. , E NINETEEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY-SIX CADET I gw . . ,, W, ADMINISTRATIVE SAMUEL W. PETERSON More than two decades of outstanding service have been the priceless contribution of Vice-President Peterson to the Acad- emy. In that span of time he has imparted more than a small amount of his knowl- edge and spirit to the advancement of the school. His fine chapel talks and the earnest- ness and directness shown before his classes convince all that he is more than worthy of -the name teacher, His fellow faculty members openly and gladly show their admiration and heart-felt regard for him, and every student in each of his classes has warm and friendly respect for his fine character. No more need be said than that he is a true friend to all. DEAN CHARLES BMN Charles Bain, Dean of the junior College, has been at the Academy now for twelve years. During that time he has served faithfully and well. No one could ask for more loyal service. The Department with which he has been associated, Chemistry and Physics, is un- doubtedly the finest within a large radius of the school. An exceptional knowledge of his sub- jects, coupled with an understanding of students, makes all those who come in contact with him the happier for their meeting, although he has no love for those who waste their time and will not work. His ability to get things done on schedule has indeed set a high standard for those who would keep pace with him. X I4 X. f.
