OEUR vii Kappa Omicron, Phi Mu is a proud and nohle tradition on the Armstrong campus We were the first womans fraternity estab- lished on the campus and the second oldest fraternity in the nation, found- ed in 1852, at Wesleyan College in tvtacon. Our vvashboard band, our two main service projects, the March of Dimes and Project Hope, as well as our par- ticipation in the Buccaneers, Who's Who, campus publications, and the student government are only a few ways we show our PHI lvfU spirit. Sharing the excitement and joy when a sister excels in beauty pageants, sweetheart titles, and scholarship awards add to our heritage. ln addi- tion to each Phi lvfu's accomplish- ments, a sister learns the true mean- ing of love, honor, and truth of vvo- manhood, the ideals of Phi lvfu. Though besieged by many threats in their young years of existence, when the dust finally cleared, Pike has emerged as the largest fraternity on campus. The sports profile of Pike has led them to the num- ber one position in Intramural sports of the 1970-71 season, and is an outstanding example of the broth- ers' wholehearted aggressiveness, Although ag- gressive Pikes do maintain a popular charisma as is demonstrated by their election of two brothers to Whos Who in American Colleges and one in the student senate. Q? t? Sigma Kappa, with her 1874 found- ing, is one of the oldest of the Creek letter organizations. Sigma Kappa has a diversity of national projects The first is our Maine Sea Coast Mis- sion, established in honor of our Maine founders. Countless boxes of gifts, clothing, and toys are donated to the underprivileged families of Maine. The American Farm School in Greece exemplifies education for women. Scholarships are awarded each year to this school. Sigma Kappa is the only national sorority that works with the elderly as a major philanthropy. Epsilon Sigma, the 106th chapter, re- ceived its charter on November 14, 1970. Actively involved in school and civic affairs, Sigma Kappa had four girls in the Miss Savannah Pageant with one ofthe sisters being crowned Miss Savannah 1971-72. Two Sigma Kappas were entered in the Miss Geechee Pageant with one of them placing first runner-up.
