New families in new communities in the Puget Sound country joined the First Federal family of savers, and more families than ever entrusted their savings to us in the areas we had served before. During the year, our customers earned a record $3,612,000 on their savings, the largest 12-month interest distribution in our history. They saved more, too. Savings increased by more than $1,250,000 a month for an all-time high of $74-million at year-end. In June, we took the giant step of opening our first office outside Snohomish County. The Federal Way branch, which moved into its permanent office in December, serves a South King County area with more than 55,000 people. And in the Spring, our eighth office will open in Redmond—an area of 25,000 people. Surely, the thousands of families who save with First Federal do so because their savings are so safe here, while they earn the highest available rate—5% on passbook accounts, and 6% on certificate accounts, compounded daily. For a sure thing—in these sometimes uncertain times—that’s pretty hard to beat. As we look back on 1972, we are grateful for the continued support of the families and the communities we serve, and for the dedication of the First Federal staff which makes our service possible. In 1973 and the years ahead, we hope to take First Federal safety and service to new families in new communities in the great Puget Sound country. Come save with us ... now!
