It annually plays for the Memorial Day and Fourth of July Parades, and at Christmas time played for the Santa Claus parade. Local football and bas- ketball games were stimulated by the stirring music. Tha group is taking part in three concerts this year, is planning a trip to Granite Falls for a concert, will take part in the Competition Festival in Puyallup and the annual County Music Festival held in Everett. There are 52 members. Instrumentation is nearly complete in all sec- tions of the band producing a much improved tone quality. 30 A CAPELLA CHOIR The choir, under the direction of Mr. Fosso, consists of 116 members. This group is divided into three mixed choirs which meet first, second, and fifth period each day. The objective of the group has been the appreciation of good choral music and to develop skills in the art of singing. The project has been to put on three concerts: the Christmas concert and two Spring concerts. The group will sing in the Competition Festival and members will sing in the Spring Music Festival held in Everett. Backgrounds for the concerts have been beautifully set by Mr. Bernier and his stage crew. Soloists have been Lola Wolfe and Bob Meier. AHS FIRST CHOIR mj V V • « ,1 Jt V 1 X7%x % % J £ ' X A ® s %' . The team failed to materialize in time to cope with the strong teams in the Northwest League and lost the remainder of the games. Coach Fred Lindenmeyer, with his inexperienced ball players, couldn't seem to get the right combination to make a winning team out of the Eagles. Although Arlington had a poor season, the boys were fighting all the way in every game until the final gun. There were five outstanding players for the Eagles. Bill Bagley and Jim Bollinger won positions on the All-Northwest second team; Mack Smith, Jim Jacobs, and Fred Grewe were given Honorable Men- tion on the same team. Starting slow and building up from week to week the Arlington Eagles reached their peak during the District Tournament. A team that possessed, the ability to get in and pull to- gether will long be remembered by those who watched them play. Having no individual performer, but ten hard working boys is the reason for their success. In District play the boys won two and lost two and missed going to the State Tournament by two points. This is the closest any Arlington team has ever come of going to State. The highlight of the season was Arlington's victory over the Everett Seagulls, which was featured by exceptional team play and brilliant shooting by Jack Anderson. Congratulations and the best of luck to ten swell boys. Ernest Ludwick Jr. The second team furnished thrills galore this season, and had a well balanced, hard work- ing aggregation.
