have meant much
to us.Ins1de these
doorways we have
found all the work,fun
and oomradeship of high
school. No matter what
else we may do, we shall
never entirely forget these
things. As seniors of Arlington
High School, passing through these
doorways for the last tilb, We shall
not forget the teachers wh showed us
guidance, kindness, and consideration.
Therefore, we dedicate our yearbook to the
former and present teachers who have led us
through school.

Y JUST A MEMORY x
f For the last twelve years, we, the class of nineteen hundred and U
R forty-nine, have been madly trying to keep up with our lessons, our Q
I club activities, and other phases of school life. Now, before we 3
f leave, maybe we should pause a moment and give a coherent account 2
of ourselves. Q Y
Beginning in the first grade were six students who are a part of
' this year's graduating class. They were Marion Beckner, Geraldine '
Davis, Marjorie Henby, Tommy Hinton, Libby Moore, and Mary Rigsbee.
Patty Long and Miriam Wedding also began their first years here, '
but went away only to return. Along the way we have picked up one
gerg ang one there and lost ons whenever we stopped.i JFragkl1n .

were a fairly well-organized class. n 3
It doesn't seem so very long ago since we were freshmen, feeling 5
quite grown up and lmportant. Under the supervision of our teachers 5
and sponsor, Mr. Cunningham, ,we began to think of ourselves as a Q
class and chose the following people for our officers: Miriam Wedd- S

this year, we saw that we had really grown. We were ready to leave 5
the traditional freshman adjective, Wgreenn, to the next class. ,
Viewing the world from the lofty position of sophomores, we began 2
to settle downito business. Most of us found places in Lat1gaClub, ,
band Boosters Club and Teen Canteen. This year we again d two

Our junior year is one we shall always remember. At last we Q
were upper classmen. This was a busy year and an exciting one with ,
e the thrill of our class play, WHer First Flameu. This year we had ,
Q charge of the concession stand at the ball games and sold candy at
E school. To help carry on these activities were Una Clarkson, preei- ,

5 It is rather hard to describe being a senior, because suddenly x
2 along with all the fun comes the realization that it will soon be S
a over. For our last year we chose Mary E. Rlgsbee, president: Marion S
5 Beckner, vice-president, Una Clarkson, secretaryg Tommy Hinton, 5
Q treasurer. with the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Antle, and principal,
5 Mr. Hardin, we carried out many memorable activities. The year book, I

Q Not all our memories are pleasant, but most of them are. We shall 5
E never forget the days that we spent together in school. 3
2 Thus we leave our seats and government books to the on-coming 5
Q senior glasses and hope they will have as much fun and get as much 2
rom sc oo as we. N

THE BOARDING HOUSE REACH
The Junior Class showed their talent October 28 end 29 when
they presented a three act comedy by Donald Payton, 'The Board-
ing House Reach. ' '
Hollywood doesn't know what it has missed by not seeing
Jackie Love ,es thirteen-year-old Wilbur Maxwell, who all his
life had wanted a bicycle. He tried and tried to get Meme and
Papa to buy him one, but they wouldn't consent. They were
afraid that their little son might get hurt.
Por awhile the case looked hopeless until Pepe wes called
away en e business trip. Mama was persuaded to go along for e
second honeymoon. The house was left in charge of Connie and
Betty Lou, the two sisters. Wilbur conceived the idea of e
boarding house to earn money for his longed-for bicycle. With
the aid of Hercules, W1lbur's best friend, they put an ad in
the paper. BZ night the Maxwell house was 'crawling' with
people. Fire came Lucy Burns, e walking encyclopedia: then
Mrs. Mott, who never said a word. Next came Ninety-Volt Jones
and his wife Ruby. They were followed by Mr. Potter, an insur-
ance salesman, and Llmpy McGuire, a gangster, and his wife
ora.
Bernadine Smith, Betty Lou's friend, was hired to cook and
help keep the house. Then Aunt Mary paid e visit and collap-
sed as a result of the shock of the Maxwell 'asylum.'
Every room was fllledg Wilbur was rolling in the dough----
then it happened Mama and Papa came home- Pepa had forgot-
ten his brief case From then on pandemonium reigned Papa
had an important business conference the next morning, but h
just oouldn't find a place to shave and was even refused hl
own paper
Finally, it was discovered that somebody in the house had
escaped with the bank's money, and poor Pop was mistakenly
carried away to the 'cllnk' by
of tough cops
In the end, however, Wilbur

SECTIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNEY 2
On Thursday evening, February Zh, the Arlington Wildcats showed up 3
on the hardwood floor of the Rushville gym to defeat Morton after a 5
gathered crowd had watched Carthage down Milroy in an exciting game 4
The Wildcats showed fight and determination, leading Morton nearly all W
the game. Arlington came out victorious with a ncore of Ll-39. 5
Friday evening New Salem defeated Manilla in the first game. Rush- f
ville downed Mhys after the Tigers put up a hard fight against the Lions J
in the first half. The final game of the evening was between Carthage 9
and Raleigh. The Sir Walters were given a beating by the Raiders, and A
at no time did the game seem to be a contest. ,
Saturday afternoon the Arlington fans traveled to Rushville with W
waving banners and purple and white badges ready to support their team. ' Q
The Wildcats showed plenty of pep and fight and gave the New Salem Q
Eagles a good game. Even though the opponents led' us most of the way 5
our boys never gave up as was shown by the final score of Al-b0.In the Q
second game an upset was brought into the tourney. A close contest Q
between the Carthage Raiders and Rushville Lions brought an excit- m
ing, tense game. The Raiders, one of the strongest teams in the 5
county, were defeated nine points, to the surprise of several fans. 3
The final game of the tourney brought Rushville against New Salem. 4
These who thought the game might prove boring got a surprise. It was A
very close. New Salem led Rushville for three quarters. The Lions 5
were not ready to lose, however, and after the Eagles had lost two of 9
their best players, Rushville soon overtook them and won, Sb-50. 5
