Hicks Superintendent Do you forget to enjoy today because you are worrying about tomorrow? This is too often the situation in our daily life. Every day should be a pleasure. Often we find ourselves so busy worrying about the future that we lose sight of the simple pleasures around us today. School is a time to make preparations for the life ahead. We must remember to plan well today in a way to insure that we will have a happy tomorrow. Basketball players fret because they want to make more pointsg swimmers want to swim more lapsg parents often want their children to achieve beyond their limits. Maybe we need to stop and reorganize our thoughts and actions. We should not worry so much about unimportant things for the future and yet lose the joy of being today. Tomorrow is a hope - but today is a reality. Mr. Hicks shares a few moments with the photography students looking at their latest prints. The 1978 Leopard is dedicated to Mrs. Linda Stevens. Mrs. Stevens is friendly, courteous, and understanding. She has been at A.S.D. for twelve years. In addition to her teaching duties in Business Office Education, she has co-sponsored the student council. For many years she has been our friend when we didn't have a friendg our listening ear when we had our troublesg and our conscience when we forgot and left ours home. There are many A.S.D. students that are richer because of herg and when we look at this page of dedication, we will smile because we are fortunate enough to know her. rf Lf Z' ' 'QW 7, fm W if ,u 4: Lf 7 3 Af 5 E :ef N 3 ,, ,gm , liikbf ,. In close yardage situations, we would always run to Dominic,s side for that extra yard we needed. It is going to be very tough to find a replacement with the experience and athletic ability that he possesses. We will miss his leadership on and off the field. Dominic is a fine athlete and a fine person and will be missed next year. 1977 Honorable Mention All-American HALFBACK Gwayne Davis, Sophomore - averaged 150 yards in seven games with 30 carries per game. He was injured in the 7th game and did not play the remaining two games. Gwayne could possibly be the best running back A.S.D. has ever had. This season he rushed for 1,042 yards, carrying the ball 170 times. Gwayne scored 74 points out of a team total of 104 points. 1977 Honorable Mention All-American LINEMAN Alvin Kirkemier, Sophomore - we were very happy to have Alvin back on the football team after a few years of not playing. It didn't take him long to get back into the swing of things and prove himself well. Alvin played nose man on defense and led the team in tackles with an average of twelve tackles per game. We look for good things from him on both offense and defense in the next couple of years. N .. 1 1 2 LL6I 03 II 9.193 9911 afield rn S-I 0 lay P CC P611 fe O11 C 77 19 :- Iv UN BACK Timmy Scroggins, Junior - walked on the field this year as a completely different player than from the one he was last year. He went all the way for us this year as quarterback and did a fine job for us. He also helped to save several touchdowns by his defensive ability at safety. LINEMAN Billy Black, Sophomore - was a key defensive player for us ranking second in total number of tackles per game. He led the team in breaking through the line to sack the quarterbaek. He will have an even bigger responsibility next year when he will be needed on both offense and defense. We look for Billy to still do a good job for us. BACK Calvin llall. ,lunior - is one ol' the mos! voaehable boys l have ever had. He played bolli ways and Caught some fine passes for us lhis year. We look for Calvin lo he a good leader in his senior year.
