ABKAN SAS BAPTIST
COLLEGE
Little Bock, Ark.
L 1972-73
Dedication
t
Dr. Ethel D. Beckley Mrs. Ruth I. Clemmons
It is with a deep sense oflove and pride that our Yearbook be dedicated
to the sacred memory of two loyal and conscientious members of the Arkan-
sas Baptist College Familyg whose love, care, influence, brave and beautiful
lives helped to mold the lives of so many young women and young men,
With'God's assistance.
Pride in a work well done, true to our ideal of "Up-holding a High
Standard" - these stalwart souls gave to us and to the world the best
they had.
To Dr. Beckley, a devout Christian wife, mother, and a graduate,
and a most loyal servant of Arkansas Baptist College for some thirty-seven
years, and to Mrs. Clemmons, an eminent teacher and brilliant scholar,
who gave most of her lifetime in the Classroom, including seven years at
A.B.C ......... we gladly and proudly dedicate the 1973 Yearbook of Arkan-
sas Baptist College.
"Thoughts of you will never be few -
The A.B.C. Family will always remember
you."

An opportunity of being a great man
or Woman, a chance at infinity, a
chancetodomorethan anyhave done.
Nothing stands in the way of seeing
what hasen'tbeen seen,ofchartering
an ambition to Whatever it may lead,
and following. Etched deepin the soul
is thatwill, thatneed to find the thing
you really Want to do, to be. And over
all is the cloudof uncertainty.

MY MOMENT WITH
GOD
Dear God: Each morning that I Wake up, I give you
thanks for another day oflifeg Each evening that I return
to my bed, I ask forgiveness for the sins I have com-
mitted.
Dear God, I thank you for the love you have given me
to shine upon othersg I thank you for the love that is
shined upon me. I thank you for this earth,- which I am
a part of, and for all mankind, which is a part of you.
And, dear God, I give thanks for this gift of life that
you have presented me With, which will forever be a
reminder of your love.
t Amen.

CAMPUS
LIFE
.rf Rains. it tY l
You see, it's Friday. Arms of
teachers are long, but none
reaches past Friday.
Friday is freedom, is life, is
the opening door.
Monday does come, but there
is time to relish being free,
not enough time though, not
quite ...... but there never is
enough time.
Funny thing, that.

Ever bursting with excitement, attacking
life with no thought of anything but breast-
bursting fun, they teach themselves to be
real, to flow over, to explode with joy with
the sparkling radiance of a million broken
mirrors under the light and heat ofa million
white-hot suns. Lingering in the felt and
velvet luxuriousness and glory ofit all, they
are rending their hearts into bits ofburning
flesh until the end, and long years after
they flow in the beauty of the joy.
Youth is doing' what youth does best -
having a magnificently wonderful time of
it. They are living life the way it's supposed
to be breathed, felt, and enjoyed - with
gusto, in the vital vein-bursting pleasure
of being- within life itselfg forever opposite
from the pale white world of the week's
work, not thought of a moment.

Graduation nears. The unre-ality of
accomplishments on pieces of paper now
relinquishes its pedestal, drops its false veil,
sheds its shield, and reality looms. Of all
events, this will be a sobering moment, a
moment of seeming ending to a wearisome
struggle. Dingy nights of studying facts will
be gone, now there are the facts themselves,
unrelenting challenges- which acute minds
will face or perish. Ingrained in the beaming
faces will be the light of accomplishment,
little thought given them to the oblong and
eliptical pathes that must be blazed.

RELIGIOUS LIFE
. , l
Thou Shalt Love The Lord Thy God . .
Arkansas Baptist College places special emphasis on Christian educa-
. tion and living. Hymn songs and daily devotional allow students to set
aside moments for silent meditation and religious dedication.
The academic curriculum offers various religion courses with
emphasis on ministerial duties and missions preparation.
Extra-curricular activities include mission' Workships, lectureships
on the Christian and his role in life, and clubs for Bible study and Christian
service.
An hour is set aside fright? each day for chapel services
where students, faculty and administration meet to
give thanks and seek guidance.
