The 8th Grade basketball team won five games and lost three. The team's greatest asset was its player depth. Each member of the team contributed to the team both in practice and during the games. In both their winning and losing efforts, the 8th graders showed class, sportsmanship and fortitude by giving their best effort throughout the season. The season's win loss record speaks well of the players' abilities, and the players' actions speak well of their strong character.
The seventh grade basketball team did the best that it could with the six boys who stayed with it for the season . High point man was Bob Makos, and Randy Berg excelled on defense for rebounds. It takes five people working together on the floor to make a team and these boys made a game of it and had fun. "Keep in there Shooting.''

Seven returning senior letter-winners, along with four other experienced seniors and one junior made up our 1977-1978 Varsity Volleyball Team. After a slow beginning, we finished with a 7-5 record. For the second year in a row, the team placed first in subregionals against Peca-tonica and Black Hawk, but Monticello eliminated us in regional play. We are proud that Sue Larson made the All Conference Team, and that Marta Anderson received Honorable Mention.

The Junior Varsity team of five juniors, four sophomores, and seven freshmen played consistently all through the season to accumulate a final 7-5 record. We are looking forward to seeing many of these players on varsity next year.
43VARSITY BASKETBALL
The varsity basketball team opened the season with a great deal of optimism because of the fact that three of last year's starters and the sixth and seventh men were returning. This, combined with a good group of J.V. 's from last year, made the outlook bright. It was an interesting conference race, with the Orioles playing in a holiday tournament at Muscoda on December 29 and 30 with Riverdale, Seneca and Kickapoo. Coming off of last year's 11-5 record (14-7 overall), Mr. Ziegler and Mr. Klamer looked forward to this year with great anticipation.JUNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL
JV BASKETBALL: Mark Jackson, Tom Pink, Brent Penniston, Kevin Gruenberg, Jim Montgomery, Howard Briggs, Brian Mundt, Steve Flannery, Raynold Saalsaa, Dan Tree, Jeff Lewis, Kurt Tollakson. Kneeling: Tom Ziller, Coach Ziegler, Jerry Bredeson.
The Junior Varsity team looked forward to a very good season, with the thought in mind that playing on the Junior Varsity is a learning process. The team was a relatively small one, but what we lacked in size we made up for in desire and determination. We like to see students at our games because we work hard at the games that we play. We are proud of our season record.
