Determined for a comeback, Argyle crushed Juda in a hard-fought game, 34 to 18, the following week. Brooklyn was Argyle's foe on Homecoming day, and the crowd witnessed a thrilling, wild scoring game which finally ended in Argyle's favor, 48 to 44. Inspired by this win, the Orioles whipped Orfordville, 24 to 12, and at this point of the season Argyle was tied for first place in the State Line League. However, championship hopes were dimmed as a revengeful Brod- head team smashed Argyle, 45 to 38, and this was followed by another defeat, 32 to 22, inflicted by New Glarus. The next game matched Argyle against Blanchardville in a bruising defensive battle. Blanchardville won, 14 to 6, in one of the best games of the season. Argyle finished the season by tripping Belleville, 44 to 40. Eight Seniors will be missing from the squad when football practice resumes next season. Incidentally, this was the last 6-man football team A.H.S. may ever have as the league will play 8 man football next year Many of the remaining boys possess a great deal of talent and if they make use of it there should be a strong squad to represent Argyle in this new 8 man game Back Row DeWayne Bredeson Martln Bredeson Eldon Isley Erlmg Isley Ronald Johnson Harlow Kipfer Ernest Buehler Ardell Jackson Gary Waage Third Row Jerome Tollakson Byron Schmid Jimmy Blsegger Jerry Conway Second Row Douglas Hanson Curtis Anderson John Nall Charles Hermanson John Flannery Robert Erickson Robert Cragg Elton Fransen Philip Johnson Warren Welnschenk Front Row Roger Nybroten Roger Johnson Bruce Pederson David Tollakson Philip Steiner Gary Lewis Jerome Pfister, Bruce Pennlsbon Billy Quinn, Dall Olson, Richard I-Iermanson, Peter Alm, Mr. Schreff. , Coach Scherff Sends Pflster In South WVayne Juda Brooklyn OrfordxiHe Brodhead New Glarus BlanchardviHe BeHevHk SCORES , fe They 0 JEROME PFISTER Captam 53 ROGER JOHNSON Most Valuable ROBERT ERICKSON Captain '54 After Hxm Boy s Steiner Plows Through 0 Pfister On The Loose ATEM H20 Back Row Coach Scherff Roger Pennlston Ph1l1p Steiner Dave Hawley Bruce Pederson Roger Flannery Manager Jxmmy Flannery Flrst Row Bruce Penmston Dave Tollakson Robert Erickson Roger Nybroten Charles Hermanson ew: Captaln 53 54 ROGER PENNISTON 3'-4 1-.L Y ,Iwi ORIOLES IN ACTION Q .P GtThtBIl 1 0 ARbo dBy 2' I Get That Tip Tip It In Phil R g BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS in W1th SIX returnmg lettermen the basketball season was a brlght pros pect under our new coach Mr Scherff The flrst game was a letdown as Blanchardvllle won easlly 67 46 Then Brooklyn came to Argyle and went home w1th a 61 50 vlctory under the1r belts The next game wlth Juda was a close game all the way with the vlsltors on top by a 53 48 score We played Montlcello 1n the1r gym and were turned back Th1s tlme the score was 67 44 But Walt now we traveled to Bellev1lle and returned joyous because of a 54 53 vlctory And now back on our home floor to meet New Glarus who beat us 68 55 Brod head after the1r second conference tltle lnvaded Argyle and won After Chrlstmas vacatlon our flrst opponent was South Wayne as a non conference foe Thev defeated the Orloles 50 37 Argyle then went on to defeat two conference foes Albany and Orfordv1lle The flrst by a 50 46 score and the second by 60 51 Th1s last game ended the flrst half of the season Blanchardvllle repeated the1r flrst vlctory th1S txme on our floor by 51 43 At Juda our boys seemed at a loss and were downed 57 52 Belle v1lle became the OFIOIGS fourth vlctory of the season as they bested them 68 62 Then at Brooklyn we lost a heartbreaker 54 52 In Brodheads gym, the Cardmals contlnued their undefeated season by rollmg over Ar gyle 77 35 Back 1n Argvle aga1n only to lose to Montlcello 85 54 We then won two of the three flnal games of the season Fxrst bowhng over Albanv 62 50, los1ng the second to New Glarus 76 56, and then we edged Orfordv1lle 55 53.
