tion For nearly exghty five years he had been
honored by hls fellow cxtlzens agam and agam
He had been President of the Vxllage of Ardsley
Presldent of Ardsley Hose Company Treasurer
of the School Board Attendance Officer and for
the past th1rty years, Clerk of the Board of Edu
catlon
It must have been h1s daxly contact with the
chlldren and h1s unseliish mterest m the welfare
of others that kept h1m so young m Splflt and
gamed hlm such a wlde clrcle of devoted frlends
Not always had Fortune treated hxm kmdly but
he never became emblttered or envlous. He was
outspoken m hrs own convxctxons but respected
the sincere opmlons of others.
For the past twenty two years, his mterests
were centered about the Ardsley Hlgh School
w1th a prlde and loyalty so mtense that no per
sonal consnderatlons could mterfere He was more
than a most efficient Clerk of the Board of Edu
catxon he was friend advlser and admomsher of
prmcxpal pupils, parents and teachers Every
entry xn has books was complete up to hxs final
1llness Hls last entnes on May 12 1944 were a
lxttle shaky Wxth feeble steps he made his way
home that day for he had never fully recovered
from an attack of pne xmoma durmg the wmter
Ten days later he passed away Beautxful Horal
trxbutes expressed the sympathy of Board of Edu
canon pupils teachers and PT.A to hxs wxfe
and family
