AN APPRECIATION OF WILLIAM C LAWRENCE 1860 1944 For longer than most of us can remember h1s derby hat and cane hrs daxly Journey to the school and around the village has youthful m terest m everyone s welfare hms eagerness to per form a favor has loyalty to his frlends hls vxllage hrs school and his polxtxcal party has added to the savor of Ardsley l1fe Now he s gone We can t belleve lt Wllham C Lawrence was an mstxtu tion For nearly exghty five years he had been honored by hls fellow cxtlzens agam and agam He had been President of the Vxllage of Ardsley Presldent of Ardsley Hose Company Treasurer of the School Board Attendance Officer and for the past th1rty years, Clerk of the Board of Edu catlon It must have been h1s daxly contact with the chlldren and h1s unseliish mterest m the welfare of others that kept h1m so young m Splflt and gamed hlm such a wlde clrcle of devoted frlends Not always had Fortune treated hxm kmdly but he never became emblttered or envlous. He was outspoken m hrs own convxctxons but respected the sincere opmlons of others.
