Front Row Gary Brennen joseph DeNardo Lynne Nev Karl Bemadette Strachan Robm Wrlson Barton Rohr mger Margaret Roberts Ruth Ann Pearce Harold Kess bach Third Row Watson Bell Werner I-Iauptll Greta ler Rxchard Kmney Second Row Wrllxam Butcher Kung Gremer Barbara Curran Jenme Barger judrth Lxers Cheslack Margaret Chnstrano jill Connolly Marxanna Louise Medovxch Chester Slaybaugh Anthony DeRocha BEGINNERS FIRST One afternoon early last June you may have seen Mothers commg to school, and along wxth them were the chlldren who are now The Be gmners Class A httle party was held for the children that day, and they played and became acquamted wlth each other and the surroundmgs Meanwhlle, bxrth certificates were recorded and the stage was set to start the school career of On September 6 some of our youngest Mod ern Youth Around Town entered school It was a blg hurdle for many and a new experlence for all They were begxnnmg an entxrely new phase of thelr llfe mto whxch we wanted them to enter wholeheartedly You may have seen favorlte stuffed ammals and toy pets bulglng ln small arms as our Begm ners trudged to school dur1ng the next few weeks A Toy Pet Show was m progress and each chlld was eager to contrlbute and show off hxs favorite After the Pet Show we started a small museum to whxch they brought all kmds of stones dxfferent kmds of dolls bxrds feathers and other th1ngs of mterest The chlldren now began to feel as 1f they belonged and were a part of the whole Chrlstmas tlme was now not far off We made presents for our parents and planned an entertam ment to whlch we mvxted our parents the last day before vacation Many parents came to see the Rhythm Band perform under the able dlrectlon of Barbara Curran Robln Wilson recxted a Christ mas poem The entlre class sang A Cradle Carol cal play entmtled Tlptoe Harold Kessler played Santa Claus helper The rest of the cast mcluded Jlll Connolly Margaret Chrlstxano Marxanna Karl Cynthma Proske Irene Kalser and M1tz1 O Leary After thxs refreshments were served to the chxl dren by our class Mother Mrs Harry Rohrbach just as we were smgmg Jmgle Bells m walked Santa Claus He had somethlng m h1s pack for each good boy and gurl In the sprung a tea w1ll be held for the Mothers At that txme they may see how the Begmners are learnmg to read and count and wrxte and work together so that next year they w1ll be seen about town and recogmzed as Advanced Flrst Graders l 1 1 ' 1 l 1 ' . 1 ' Iv 4 , 1 a , 1 - u' M , -, !
