Learning about matter and energy
are the 157 students enrolled in Chemistry
and Physics. Mr. Glyn Sharpe prepares them
for college and careers by emphasis on scien-
tific principles and correct laboratory pro-
cedure.
The value of this is demonstrated at
the end of the year by the high ratings at
tained by many AHS students at both the
Carter County Science Fair and the State
Science Fair
Many noted scientists have visited the
classes this year They have come from such
places as the Atomic Energy Plant at Oak

Approximately ll00 students are served each day in the
cafeteria.
The cafeteria which serves both the junior and
Senior High Schools has proven to be a popular
place for holding mixers after basketball games and
other special activities, as well as for providing
delicious and nutritious food for AHS students.
Under the direction of Mrs. Thelma Groomer,
the cafeteria feeds approximately 1100 students a
day, offering a variety of fine foods, such as de-
licious fried chicken, which seems to be the meal
most favored by students.
