ff: .I '7!w2ueen4 Climaxing home-coming activities were the'crowning ot Boots l-larris, senior, as band queen in an elaborate ceremony held at the halt of the Ardmore-McAlester football game November l7, l939. Alter the proces- sional, which began at the North end ot Walker Field, the queen received her crown from Drum Major I. B. McCullar. Reigning in a royal manner as queen of the l939 toot- ball team Was Margaret Gilreath, popular sophomore. Nominated by the football team and elected by popu- lar vote of the student body, Margaret was a queen in every sense of the Word. Representing the sophomore class in the Band queen contest were Kathryn Council and leanne Lowen- stein While Mary Louise Suggs and Betty lo Scott were the nominees ot the junior class.
