THE BIG EVENT OF THE YEAR - THE THIRTY-FIFTH ANNUAL HIGH SCHOOL OBATOBICAL CONTEST ' Genie!!! The Light That Is Darkness placed Billy lngler in the spot- 1ight at the 35th Annual Oratorical contest February 22, as first place winner with Mervin Hilf Grossman's oratorical masterpiece. Kirk Dyer, junior, took the second place with Bob Schiller, jr.'s oration UA Nation Out Of Balance. The Big Parade, by Wesley Cartey won for George Ellis, also a junior, the third place award. Other contestants included Betty Garrison, senior, Norma jackson, and Katie Frank Slack, sophomores. The chairman was superintendent George D. Hann, and A, C. Hall award- ed the medals. The judges were Dr. Walter Emery, W. G. Murphy, and Vernard Anderson, all of the O. U. speech de- partment. One of the most coveted honors to be had by an upperclassman is that of being a luncheon guest of one of Ardmore's lead- ing civic groups. At the beginning of each month in the school year, a leading senior boy is selected to join the Rotarians in four of their weekly meetings, Receiving the honor this year were Bill lngler, Gene Ritter, Doyle Bridges, Gerald McNees, Halcolm Crawford, Iames Gibson, Charles W'ilf banks, Ralph Herzmark, Wayne Daniel, Glenn Vtfilson, and Richard Vaughan. Serving to make the Kiwanis Iunior Police force one of the schools most valuable organizations are these alert young officers. They are I. D. Scearce, captain, Gordon Sies, captain, Paul Barnett, lieutenant, Ioe Wiley South, lieutenant, and Charles Bige bie, Bill Brady, Lowell Bransford, Douglas Dillard, Norman Harris, H. A.
