DO1'1'l be misled by the-er-disinterested expressions on the laces of these juniors. They don't look that way because of any particular desire to get back to classy the sun was in their eyes. You Can't tell it by looking, but there are a lot ol good students in this group.

7!ae Quai M ' Blau CLASS luniors of l94O lived down the unpleasant title of under classmenn by making an enviable record for themselves in every line of activity. Under the leadership of such capable paceesetters as President David Hancock, Viceepresident Evelyn Moore, Secretary Martha Mclntire, and Treasurer Elizabeth Merrick, the middlemen were a good second in the race for the Student Council Service Award. ln this com- petition the luniors kept their shoulders to the wheel and led the school in attendance and scholarship. Third year English and other curricular pitfalls were no obe stacles to lanice lessee, Nancy Gray, Elora Belle lvie, and Mary Louise Suggs. These four had straight A records for the first semester. Scoring heavily for their class in forensics were Kirk Dyer and George Ellis, who placed second and third, respectively, in the thirty-fifth annual oratorical contest held in observance of Washington's birthday. These versatile second-classmen not only showed ability in the gentlemanly art of speaking, but ten football and four basketball sguadsmen came from the junior ranks. lf we can judge the future by the past, the senior class of 4l will set many records. Iunior Officers: David Hancock president, Evelyn Moore, vice presidentg Elizabeth Merrick secretaryg Martha Mclntire, trea surer MISS ETHEL MCCLURE --18a ' -.L
