A TALE OF THE YEARS The chronicle of the class of 24 runs thus In the beginning of the nineteen hundred and twenty first year of our Lord there entered into this land of learning two hundred seekers after knowledge It came to pass that they yvere received gleefully by a certain tribe called sophomores who did pounce upon them daily and nightly and cause them to suffer great torture As they soyour ned rn the land by reason of their talents they aroused the admiration of the faculty and the envy of the students Behold they organrved a fr eshmarr orchestra which de lighted its hearers It came to pass that the class soon took unto itself a banner of purple and white under which rt fought fiercely and valrantly ln the fray called the or atorrcal contest The halls classrooms and auditorium resounded with rousing, cheers for the class representative Now rn the second year the class acquired new dignity Behold rn the operetta and glee clubs wearers of the purple and whrte took many parts One Robert Hefner won a trophy of gold at Durant for superr Orlty rn drawing sweet har monv from hrs vrolrn That year the purple and white met defeat rn the contest of or atory and the boys of the class endured many hardships and long country walks rn order to sustain the honor of the class Now rt happened that a roy ous prcnrc was given rn the fifth month at the City Lake wherein a vast quantity of lemonade and sandwiches was devoured As the class passed on to Junror dom the cry arose Let us have a party And rt came to pass that an Halloween fete was gry en The numbers ln attendance were great and many doughnuts and sandwiches were consumed Behold this year both srlyer and gold medals yvere won rn the oratorrcal contest and the pulse of the class beat high at this great victory over all adversaries At Turner Falls the class of 24 entertarned the senior tribe with a wonderful prcnrc Notwithstanding the pleasure of the sojourn rn high school land rn the fourth year preparations for the final departure were made. Oft did the pilgrims burn the midnight oil in storing, away facts for semester exams. A warning cry' was heard If we graduate it appeareth we shall need much money. Accordingly the class held a carniyal. Lo! great crowds did come and many shekels poured into the tr'easury'. Again this year the seniors Won the golden trophy in the oratorical contest. Great ath- letes and musicians returned from Durant and Iworman laden with medals bronze shields and loving cups so that the eyes of the low er classes were da77led by the brightness of their reflection in the morning sun ' Four years hath the class of 24 dwelt in the land and gathered of the fruit of the tree of knowledge.
