FOOTBALL REVIEW OF 1948
The W1ldcats of Archer Hlgh School closed the1r season on November
17 1948 by tylng the Iowa Park Hawks 19 19 Under the able guldance
of Coach Vlfatson and Ass1stant Coach Conner the W1ldcats gave a good
account of themselves
The season opened w1th Valley V1ew The W1ldcats won 52 O The
touchdowns were made by Green Burney W1l11ams Powell Robertson
Knox and Patrlck Burney k1cked three and passed to Patr1ck for one
extra po1nt
The second game was Wlth Seymour on the home f1eld The W1ldcats
won 13 O On the openlng k1ck offPatr1ckwent emghty yards for a touch
down w1th excellent block1ng all the way The second touchdown came
on a pass from Powell to Patrlck Patrlck made honorable ment1on as
Player of The Week by the Fort Worth Star Telegram
The next week the W1ldcats journeyed to Ch1ll1cothe They held a
sl1m 6 O lead unt1l the last quarter and then threw the1r offence 1nto h1gh
gear and scored two more touchdowns 1n rap1d success1on Patrmk took
a perfect toss fromPowell for the f1rst touchdown The other two were
made on runn1ng plays
The next week a non conference game was played w1th Jacksboro
The score was Z0 O The scores were made by Robertson and Knox
A pass from Burney to W1ll1ams accounted for one extra po1nt and Pat
r1ck ran the other over

The follow1ng week the W1ldC3tS played Crowell Th1s was a hard

were honored guest at th1s game
