BOARD OF EDUCATION
Behind the scenes at El Rancho Arch-Hi there is a Board
of Education which has done much to insure the continued
existence of a successful and progressive institution. This
group has given liberally of their time and effort to make El
Rancho one of the very best. They have furnished fine
buildings and equipment for their hands. They have given
ready approval to all things which were necessary to insure ef-
ficient operation of this enterprise. They realize that an in-
vestment in the youth of today pays off in good citizens to-
morrowg that true American ideals can best be preserved by a
good system of free schools.
The departing members of El Rancho Arch-Hi gratefully
acknowledge the support and co-operation of their Board of
Education.

ln that eventful year of nmetcen hundred and forty one a bunch of
tenderfeet ambled lnto the ARCH HI RANCH house where for two years
under the leadershxp of lVllss Nofzlger we learned the Joys and aches of be
mg a cowhand
The trall was rough and we had our share of tumbles but nearly all
returned the thlrd year for the fmal four year tralnmg perxod There were
quxte a number of new faces around the ranch but these were other hands
from smaller ranches We all agreed that the ARCH HI RANCH was the
best place to flfllSh our tralnmg
The Qophomores emoyed brandlng thenr younger partners but by
now we were used to all kinds of falls and shocks so we came throu h very
well The followlng year we were sophomores and we enjoyed the brandmg
ceremony much more naturally smce we were admlnlsterlng xt These years
produced many Joys and lessons never to be forgotten
ln our umor year we had our flrst real responslbxlltles on the ranch
We chose our rmgs and pms that would blnd us to the ARCH HI RANLH
forever As IS the custom we gave a play entltlecl Ask Me Another
whrch was a success because we were coached by Mr Parker who has been
on the ranch many years The reatest event of the year was the umor
Semor Banquet whxch we sponsored on the thlrd of May ln our best boots
the theme of our banquet
Then came our year of years we were the top hands We agaln
chose Garry Lehman to lead us for the last year around the ranch Once
a am we dressed IH our o to meetln duds and let lmmy Sellers flash his
camera at us Comlnv right off the plalns we were rather shy but havmg
decided to publlsh a year book to recall all our happy moments we tried
especlally hard to look natural
On May twentleth we became full fledged cow boys and Ulrls UI
bellevably we partlclpated 1n our commencement CXCYCISCS and 35 final
proof we recerved our certlflcate for servnces rendered on the ARCH HI
RANCH
Now we have brought these memorable days to an end Although
we have been lookmg forward to thas tlme for SIX years lt rs wxth a feelmg
of deep regret that we leave thls beloved ranch but we are confldent fhat
now we can cope with the obstacles whlch wxll undoubtedly confront us

The Senior class born September l935 dled May 20 l947 after
an mtelh ent lllness of twelve years
The SCDIOIS leave to m urn thexr departure the unlor Sophomore
and the Freshman classes as they pass from H1 h School to return no more
They could not escape from thls Inevitable fate no matter how earnestly
they had endeavored to do 0 for all thm s human are mortal
As they journeyed through the twelve years of thls nllness they con
'lucted themselves after the manner of organized classes smce the very be
gmnmg of all school llfe
They are mdebted more than they could ever have been able to re
pay to thelr falthful teachers who had been thelr tender and patient nurses
for so long They have done all t at was possnble for the class to make thexr
career pleasant and profitable
surely come to you even as It came to the Semors of l947
Although they clnecl from thls actxvxty yet may they llve forever ln
the memornes and the purxfymg mfluences that are left behind to the future
qenlors of the ARCHBOLD HIGH SCHOOL
Mourn for a class
A class that ceased to be
All raduuted they
From school and study free
ust thlrty ln this class
Who e wlsclom stood the test
They wc e so flne and ood
Of all we knew the best
Nlourn for the class
The Semors wnse are gone
Their last bug game IS fought
Their labors now are done
Thelr mmcls were qunck and keen
Unrxvaled was thexr art
When the Semor class went out
And left us sad at heart
And well forget them not
But ln our memory
They shall forever dwell
Our hearts thexr shrine shall be
The Senior class rs gone
Therr vlctorles are o er
They and their loyal hearts
Honor our school no more

CHORUS
One of the earliest ways of portraying emotion was through singing. This
is still true today. When we are happy we sing light melodiesg when we are
sad we sing more serious songs. Therefore, besides being just part of our
school life, chorus and the glee clubs are an outlet for our emotions.
During the war the vocal groups had not been entirely neglected, but
neither had they had a regular schedule. When Mr. Parlette came back this
year we again started our glee clubs and chorus. One period a week was
given for practicing both the Boys' Glee Club and the Girls' Glee Club. Then,
later on in the year, a period was set aside for the chorus, a combinations of
the two glee clubs. With Mr. Parlette directing and Miss Valetta Taylor ac-
companying, the sixty-one voices :in the chorus were blended quite successfully.
The chorus was represented by eighteen members at the Spring Festival
at Wauseon and the Girls' Clee Club by about fifteen members. The entire
chorus appeared at the Spring Festival at our own. school. lt's numbers re-
ceived much praise by the audience.
It is hoped that next year still more time can be given to promoting these
groups.

Before becom n a member of the Senlor Band of El Rancho Arch H1
you must have some prellmlnary tramm m the fundamentals of playing an
mstrument Thus task xs accomplx hed m the umor band Afetr havmg
learned how to produce a tone on one particular instrument through prxvate
lessons you are permxtted to play ln the umor Band So 1n order to have
a ood Semor Band we must first have a good unlor Balnd
We have that ood umor Band thls year They performed very well at
the Sprln Festxval Although for many of the band members lt was their

Let us keep m mind the fact that although they are not as popular now
