To you life may seem lonely dangling from
the ceiling I spend my days swinging IN the
breeze listening to everything from the Cos
pels of Matthew and Mark to dates with Luke
and john tnot the saints of courselj On test
days I notice a lot of students looking upward

Lucky me. I do see the Ragdolls putting their
religion into action. Operation Tender Love.

If you re interested in observing some choice

Boy am l ever glad to get a break between
classes. Oops! An introduction is in order. lm
the Registered World Map but folks just call me
the Map. Some people would think its a pret-
ty dull job being a Social Studies map just hang-
ing around here all day but how many other
pieces of instructional material do you know
who get to have forty eager students-girls
nonetheless-staring at them all day. It s pretty
neat being the center of attraction. The only
thing that s rough are those pointers. There s this
over-enthusiastic teacher who is constantly poin-
ting out ancient Greece to her freshmen classes
and it doesnt exactly tickle! Im beginning to
turn black and blue in addition to feeling a little
abused.

Cuten Tag! l'm Pierre Brutus Martinez, you're
multi-lingual language lab. Prepare yourselves!
We're starting out on our world cruise right now.
We'll visit such places as France, Germany,
Spain and ltaly. How are we traveling, you ask?
By foot, of course! You see, we're taking a tour
through Ryan's language department. Where
else can you experience the beautiful scenery,
visit the cultural sights, learn the nation's
history and customs and sample their food in
one day and not have to walk more than two
flights of steps? Languages are a popular attrac

classes do you know where you can do folk

Science
I wonder if Albert Einstein s lab table started
out like this. I dont think there s anything that
hasnt been spilled on me. Luckily Ive become
many frogs dissected that I could do it with my
eyes closed-which is precisely how some of the
girls go about it. I observe the girls becoming
more scientific as the year progresses. When
they luck out and come up with the right results
I feel as if I m part of it. Of course I always have
the weekends to recover and spend time praying
that the lab won t blow up during the next week
of fun-filled experiments.

Here I am making my way up these
steps for the third time today safe in
the clutches of a trustworthy office
aide This poor girls legs must be
tired' It s not easy being an office
aide in an office at Ryan Seems as
if someone s always sending for
somebody. Some girls get so upset
when they find they ve been called.
Do you think Sister wants to find
out why I was bending over to tie my
shoelace at 8:47 this morning? O
do you think she mistook my
neckbrace for a turtleneck? Shell
stammer and chew her nails walking
down the corridor, l sometimes find
it amusing to watch them worry.
Why? You try being cooped up in a
file cabinet for 24 hours a day, nine
months a year, and see how much
excitement you have in your life!!!

Bowlin
Talk about an Excedrin headache!
That's what you get when you're the
bowling ball for the captain of
Ryanfs All-Star team. These girls
never miss! It seems like everytime
I'm thrown I get hit smack, dab right
on the head pin. In the beginning it's
fun, but after a while you feel like
you're cracking up. After the game,
though, itfs heaven! They shine me
and put me back in the case to get a
little rest until the next time when
you II see me rolling wildly down the
alley smashing noisily into the pins
Its a vicious circle I tell you u
it s great!

Swimming
Although Ifm only a three year
. ,
old bathing cap, I ve seen a lot of ac-
tion in my day, l'm always right on
top of what's going down. Ryan's
athletes exhibit hard work and
perseverance. From my position, I
can see everything as it happens,
and I know the inner-most thoughts
of the girl on whose head I am per-
ched. In spite of her diligence and
dedication my swimmer would be at
a disadvantage without me, to add
to her speed as she strokes to the
end of each lap. After all, what good
are practice and powerful muscles
without a slick dependable bathing
cap? I really enjoy swimming the
u length of the pool and back! We're 'r
just approaching the end of the pool
and she's ducking her head down
now. This is the only thing I don't

everyone just by looking at the soles

Band
Oh! Am I tired. These long road trips are the worst! If
this band gets invited to one more away parade, it'll be
the end of me. First of all, the guys who pack us on the
bus just don't understand how sensitive we tubas are. If
we're left alone too long or not given proper attention
we just don't sound up to par, Ah, l'rn saved! Here comes
my owner. She knows how to take care of me. As long as
she, or the other band members, are around we in-
struments can be assured of tender loving care' and you
audiences can rest easy that every performance will be
superb' After all a happy tuba is a tuneful tuba

Our book is novv in the hands of our classmates and it is time for
us to look back and speak our gratitude to those who have helped and
guided us in our endeavor. If before we have failed to say thanks it
was only because we took these people for granted and just didn't
have the time to say it. But without them we could never have pro-
duced this year's Golden Vine.
Our most special and heartfelt thanks go to our moderator Mr.
james Gildea
Thanks to:
Our principal Father Conahan, and our Administrators who made
our job a little easier.
To Cooke Publishing Co. and Susan Heidt, our Representative, for
their professional and helpful ideas.
To Carl Wolf Studio, especially for their excellent photographers.
To our faculty, who persevered with us through it all.
To the students of Ryan and especially the Class of '77 for allowing
us to Capture so many memories, and most important, for making those
memories,
And finally, to our staff, who helped us produce a book we hope
will be long remembered.
