Baker, Interest in debating reached a new high this year with a large turnout of students to swell the ranks of the junior debaters. With Father Arthur ,Smith directing the junior debaters and Father Skelly continuing as moderator of the seniors, a program of intramural and prac- tice debates was organized in preparation for the league meetings. Gonzaga placed first with a seven and one record. The topic for all debates this year was, Resolved: That governmental subsidies should be granted to high school graduates who qualify for additional training. Although graduation will claim six debaters, their places will be ably filled by candidates moving up from the junior team.
