ArcaTa had very good maTerial This season Tor a Tine TooTbaIl Team. They de-
TeaTed Del INlorTe IO To 6, losT To The Ferndale champions 7 To O, and also losT To
Eureka I9 To 6. The boys played excellenT TooTball during The enTire season and
should have won more games. The main drawback This season was The lack OT exe
perience oT mosT oT The maTerial-Nielson, Simas, MaTTson, and Cady being The only
leTTermen back. The boys should be able To give a very good accounT OT Themselves
nexT season. The Team will only lose Tour players by graduaTion. Graves, Grand, Dearing,
and Jarboe all gave good accounTs oT Themselves on The line. Nielson, Simas, and Cady
played Tine ball in The backTieId.
Our boys made a Tine sTarT and an exce!IenT Tinish, buT They iusT couldn'T seem
To geT going during The middle oT The season. They won Their TirsT game Trom SouTh
Fork by The score oT I4 To I. They Then dropped a poorly played game To Ferndale
6 To O. They made a sTrong comeback and nearly deTeaTed The sTrong Eureka aggre-
gaTion. The score was 4 To 3. The ForTuna Team having deTeaTed all oTher opposiTion
came To ArCaTa To swamp The home Team and To win The championship, buT aTTer
The dusT oT baTTle had cleared Tound Themselves on The shorT end oT a I4 To 2 score.
Seidell's, Olivera's, PeTersen's, and Ramos's Tine hiTTing, Vanoncini's Tine caTching, Cady's
home run, and CosTa's superb piTc:hing were all TeaTures oT This game.

Due To The lack oT maTerial The heavyweighTs will be greaTly handicapped This
season as Grand and Cady are The only Two men who Took poinTs in The lasT counTy
Track meeT. Bill lnskip is running The 880 in Tine Torm in pracTice and should go places
in The meeT This year. Grand and Cady should repeaT Their performances and gaTher
poinTs in The hurdles. Jenkins and Cady have also been showing up well in The high
iump. ErnesT Susan has been showing Tine Torm in The 440, overcoming all opposiTion
so Tar, and should keep up The good work. The Team is greaTly lacking in maTerial Tor
The shoTpuT, pole vaulTing, and sprinTs. The Team will miss MoscheTTi and Sundberg
who Took poinTs lasT year aT The meeT.
Aside Trom a weakness in The dashes The lighTweighT Team shows excellenT prom-
ise This year. l-lunTer and Emenegger, sure poinT Takers in The hurdles and broad
jump, are showing greaT promise. Emenegger is also puTTing The shoT in Tine Torm.
CliTTord Bass, a 440 man, should repeaT and again Take poinTs in his division. The
loss oT Grayden FinTrock will be keenly TelT This year as he Took TirsT in The IOO and
second in The 220-yard dashes. IT maTerial shows up in The dashes, pole vaulTing, and
high jump The lighTweighT Team should go places in a loig way This season.

WiTh The enTire membership oT lasT year's TirsT Team reTurned To com-
peTiTion, The Tennis Teams show promise oT raTing highly. in The counTy
meeTs This year. Laverne Elmore showed his usual unbeaTable Torm and
reTained his number-one singles posiTion. l-loward LesTer and Paul I-lunTer
proved a formidable doubles Team, and should have liTTle Trouble in dis-
posing oT oTher doubles combinaTions. Eugene FounTain and Virginia Torp
comprised The mixed doubles. Bruce Wylie, Edward Graves, John l-lam,
RoberT Ferguson, and Edward Warren made up The second Team. The
girls were represenTed by Warrene Elmore, AlTa May LesTer, Virginia
Torp, Eleanor l-less, Billie Fielding, and l-lelen Esping. AlThough They lack
experience in inTer-scholasTic compeTiTion, iT is hoped ThaT They will pre-
senT sTiTF opposiTion To invading Teams.
