Class ll-History
Dear Diary: CSeptember 19451
On September 1945 the future class of 1958 took its first
step toward graduation by entering kindergarten. Here everyone
went through the process of learning to count. to say the alpha-
bet, and to participate in the traditional kindergarten band.
The noise was terrific when everyone started pounding sticks,
beating the drums, and shaking the tambourines. Bewildered as
each one of us was, we shyly made friends and later enga ed in
many famous battles over blocks, sand tools, and the paints gwhich
were occasionally used in spreading the measles over classmates'
faces.: As we climbed upward into first and then second grade,
we collected skinned shins, many Hdamp hankies,N and a number of
vicious enemies who threw spit balls for revenge. Skipping gayly
into 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, we soon were ready for graduation
from grade school and the big slide into Junior High.
Dear Diary: QSeptember 19511
As I peered down the long, empty. halls that my class was
soon to fill, it seemed impossible that I had finally made the
half way mark in my education. Those drinking fountains were so
far from the floor that I had to stretch extremely hard to reach
them. The lockers were lined row upon row and I wondered how I
would manage to Whitn the right one when everyone else was madly
rushing from one class to another. I simply felt lost when they
handed me my schedule which was to be my guide for the rest of
the year. I didn't get the hang of things as quickly as I should
have. The teachers seemed to be quite a bit sharper than they
used to be in the grades. One had to be a pretty sharp look-out
to slide past their eagle-eye vision. Gradually I became an ex-
pert paper-wad-shooter and a crack-shot water pistol kid.
Dear Diary: KSeptemberfl9547
School, as I soon discovered, wasn't all work and no play
but a most enjoyable medium of both. Many new students came to
the central school from the rural and district schools. I, along
with the rest of my class, now could choose the subjects which we
thought were best suited to our needs and which would hold our
interest for the next four years. Mrs. Falsion gave us a picnic
at her home in Rushford where we went swimming, picnicked, and
had an exciting time. For our class officers we elected Beth
Calkins as President, David Davies as Vice President.Alice MgNu1-
ty as Secretary, and Judy Cotton as Treasurer. Our gdviggrs were
Mr. Koch and Miss Esmond. Each member of the class was initiated
at the Freshman-Sophomore party where Alice McNulty
queen and Dee Schnitzler was chosen king.
was chosen
Dear Diary: CSeptember l955D
During my Sophomore year my class sponsored a private skat-
ing party at Orchard Park. Many of us soon found that the floor
wasn't as soft as it appeared but we readily adjusted to this
situation by staying on our feet instead of investing in a third
roller skate for the spot on which we so often landed. For our
class officers we chose David Blendinger as President, Beverly
Binnie as Vice President, Marg Agen as Secretary, and Judy Cotton
as Treasurer. Our advisors were Miss Shadbolt and Mr. Tullar.
Each one of the class enjoyed the Freshman-Sophomore party which
we held for the class of '59.
Dear Diary: fSeptember 19561
This was the year my class was allowed to sponsor money mak-
ing dances and other activities. The Soda Pop Hop in November
and the Cupid's Caper in February were both great successes. Marg
Agen was crowned queen at the Cupid Caper Dance. The Junior plays
which were a shining spectacle were Balcony Scene, A Night in the
Country, and 12 0'C1ock Murder.
Dear Diary: QJune 19575
Paint, papers, scissors and many busy fingers finished the
decorations in record time for the Junior Prom ---- Stairway to thi
Stars where Marie Glasner was crowned queen. A skating party was
held at Skateland in Buffalo and our stationery sale was a tre-
mendous success when we proved we could top last year's sales
record. For class officers we elected David Blendinger as Presi-
dent, Lee Schnitzler as Vice President, Marg Agen as Secretary,
and Judy Cotton as Treasurer. Our class advisors were Miss Min-
nick and Mr. Warner.
Dear Diary: CSeptember 19571
As I entered the halls of old A.C.S. once again, it hardly
seemed possible that this was to be my last year. As we called
our last election meeting to order, we elected Lee Schnitzler as
President, Shan Hyman as Vice President, Marg Agen as Secretary,
and Judy Cotton as Treasurer. Our advisors were Miss Arthur and
Mr. Warner. Throughout the year the class had many wonderful
activities. Among these were the magazine sale which exceeded
last year's records, the Senior play entitled The Little Q23
Laughed, and the last Senior sponsored dance held at Christmas
time which was the Snowflake Fantasy.
Packing for the Washington trip was filled with so much hus-
tle and bustle that I feared I would miss the bus but all went
well and soon Washington, D. C. loomed ahead of us. Fun,excite-
ment, adventures and a most happy time were had by all. No one
has ever seen a senior class that was more tired, but happy, than
the Class of '58 as they returned home. After many worn out pens,
broken pencils, plus a basket full of tired hands, year books
were signed and all that was left were the finals and the long
awaited step which made us eligible te enter Seeiety.
Dear Diary: CJune 1958-Graduation Nightl
It was sad, but oh so wonderful. I can hardly believe that
it has happened. Graduation is behind me and so are all of the
wonderful parties that were held after graduation when everyone
said final farewells and good lucks. Some we will never see
again, others will work at the desks next to each other in some
business office, still others will go to farms and raising crops
and stock, some will even reach out for the star that they have
been wishing on and climb to the very top of the ladder of suc-
cess. Whatever their ambition, wherever they go, God will bless
and watch each one.
Now I would like to thank you, dear A. C. S. for making my
life such a happy one and for giving me the training for
life's work. It seems hard to swallow this huge lump that is
my throat as I try to think of all the times I have cheered my
school teams to victory and won't be able to do anymore. I thank
the teachers for trying to understand me when I became difficult
and confused in climbing the long towering stairway to graduation
My class and I would like to say this to the succeeding classes
who will so deservingly take our places--The class of 1958 feels
that its history has a certain significance to one and all in-
volved. Each one has done a great deal in making our class the
fine example that it has been. We will never forget the twelve
years we have spent in Arcade Central or the many friends we have
made while here. Carry on, Class of '59, and may you and the
classes that follow you enjoy and receive as much from your
school years, especially your Senior year, as we the class of
1958 did.

JUNE 17, 1958
Dear Diary
I guess it must be natural for a senior to feel as I do near
my last days of school. It seems that each day can not last long
enough. Frequently old school-day memories come back to me and I
wish I could live those days all over again.
However, I guess dreaming will do no good or get me nowhere.
Speaking of dreams, last night I had a very unusual dream. I
dreamed that I awoke in the morning to find myself ten years in
the future. This is a brief account of my subconscious adventure
It was very exciting and strange. I found myself in a large
home, beautifully furnished, with all the modern conveniences.
This period was called the Push Button Age, a time not hard to
discover since my surroundings certainly revealed that. Where
should I start??? Which button should I push first??? What would
happen??? All such questions went through my mind.
I finally started my venture in the living room. The first
button I pushed turned on the television. The show about to be
presented was being sponsored by the Chrysler Corporation, of
which Gerald Davis had become the head. Mr. Davis' office staff
was so attractive that he used them as part of his advertisement.
His secretarial staff consisted of Alice McNulty, Joni Hackett,
Rowena George, and Diane Hurlburt. Between laughs, they made very
successful secretaries and, by the way, looked very becoming on
the air.
On a different channel I found Patricia Roche starring in
her own television series entitled WLiving with Patty.N Sponsor-
ing her show were the Avon Cosmetics, the correct use of which
was demonstrated by Dorothy Calteaux. Dorothy had become head of
the Avon Cosmetic Company.
Looking up through my glass ceiling, I saw a helicopter
buzzing around. It soon landed and, to my amazement, Jean Kirsch
and Sharon Casey came out and greeted me. They informed me that
they enjoyed a recent trip around the world. Also they told me
that Georgetta McKinsey had become a very successful airline
hostess.
Suddenly a very strange sensation went through me. I
thought the house was moving and, sure enough, it was. The house
was being moved in order to avoid the sun's bright rays. An
invention for moving houses to suit one's taste had been patented
by Donald Simons, David Woodruff, and Larry Casey.
CLASS PROPHECY fcont.7
Now with the house turned about, I could see Main Street. A
large truck passed by. The truck was not so unusual, but the
lettering on it took my attention. It read, nCl1ff's Chevrolet
Sales and Service.N Clifford Davies had acquired his own Chevro-
let plant.
The next car that went by I did not recognize. Later I found
out it was a DePirromobile. Michael DePirro had recently patented
the car. Marjorie Moltrup was driving the car. She Was the f1rSf
person to purchase Mike's sports auto and, by the way, was a test
driver for various sports car manufacturers.
I decided to go outside and explore the outside world.
Before I got out, someone came to the door giving out free samples
of a new doughnut recipe, compliments of nBakers' Bakery,n run by
Dolores Baker.
Finally getting outside,I decided to hire a taxi and explore
the town. Right at my service was WMathewsons' Taxi Service for
Blondes.N Of course, this meant women only. Larry Mathewson
gladly took me for a scenic tour of the town.
While on this ride, I found out many interesting facts from
Larry. Among these were that Beverly Binnie and Sylvia Nichols
had become fashion models for Macey's in New York City, Robert
Ritter was giving outer space flying lessonsg Judy Cotton had
become treasurer of the General Electric Company: Marie Bliss had
become a famous commercial artistgBeverly Davies and Sandra Lloyd
were playing for the New York Philharmonic Orchestrag Raymond
Kaiser, John Dutton, and David Reisdorf were leaders of the Amer-
ican Dairy Association and were very successful farmers, Sandra
George was running her own detective agency for women's strayed
meng and Edna Husted was working as beauty assistant to NCandy
Jones.'
As we proceeded, I saw a state trooper on the sidewalk. He
looked like David Blendinger and, sure enough, he was. Here I left
the taxi and talked with him. He informed me that he had found
his happiness with Ruth Pfarner, and Ruth was still teaching.
I noticed a sign on a nearby building reading nDon's Dancing
Studio.H Dave told me that Donald White had taken over Arthur
Murray's dancing studio. Also, he said that Dee Schnitzler had
recently received 'his bache1or's degree and was rapidly becoming
a millionaire. He had many employees in his newly acquired indus-
trial plant and among them were Carol Owens, one of his stenog-
raphers, and Donna Schickler, one of his bookkeepers. Carol and
Donna both agreed that Dee was very easy to get along with and
work for.

At last I was able to sit down and read the paper, I found
out many interesting facts. Mary Jane Mayer had become a suc-
cessful nurse in Californiag Colleen Davis had become the world's
water skiing championg Geraldine Hanson had become N. Y. State's
speed typistg Robert Rakoska, Roger Garbowski, Wesley Barber, and
Gary Rhoads were still unheard of since their recent trip to
outer space, Rita Conrad, Mary Ann Schiltz, Joan Bartz, and Ann
Suttell owned a cottage in Florida, and all have secretarial jobs
thereg Judy Fisher and Bonnie Mitchell had become leaders of a
nationwide rock and roll fan club. Also, I learned that Margaret
Agen had become New York State's leading cheerleader: Florence
Calkins had won the teacher-of-the-year award, Hubert Koch was
recovering rapidly after one of his experiments in a laboratory
had not worked out as plannedg and Lola Sampson had joined the
Waves and was enjoying-her job.
After I finished'reading the paper, I turned on the tele-

show was called WThe Hart, Gust, and Reisdorf Better Homemaking

Well, dear diary, that was my dream. Fantastic as it may
seem, I believe there might well be a good deal of truth in it. A
suitable ending to this entry might well be that uTime will tell!
