Missing from picture are Lance Block., Bob Wells. and Bob Toschl. This year's Don Basketball team did wonders in compiling a 20 win, 4 loss season, highlighted by the whining of the newly formed Mid-Peninsula League Basketball Championship from arch-rival Hillsdale in the last game of the season. Coach Ed Diaz can be credited with leading the Aragon Five to the M.P.L. Championship and a 4th Place finish in the Peninsula Basketball Tournament. Because of this, Coach Diaz was named Coach of the Year by the Peninsula Sports Writers. Aragon had three members voted to the all M.P.L. first team: Mark Jorgenson was voted the Most Valuable Player in the M.P.L.. Although Mark did not lead the league in any one department,he was invaluable to Aragon's winning the M.P.L. Championship. His 18.1 points per game average was fourth in the league. He also rated in the top ten of the Field Goal and Free Throw Percentage. His outstanding floor-play and leadership also merited this award. In both games against Hillsdale, Mark scored the wixming basket. Six foot, nine inch Brice Pearson, 13.8 p.p.g., was another all M.P.L. player. Brice led the league in rebounds and field goal percentage. Brice's timely rebounds helped to win many games during the course of the year. Last but not least, Barry Secrest, 12.8 p.p.g., was elected to the First Team all M.P.L. Barry blossomed late in the year and gave Aragon the extra spark it needed to win the championship. Barry's season high was against Mills in which he scored 20 points and led the team to victory: for this Barry was voted NORTHERN CALIFORNIA'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK . Filling out the starting lineup were Rick Wirgler and Lance Block and our 4+6 man, Chris Nelson. Wirgler and Block rebounded well through- out the whole season and scored well. Chris Nelson, Aragon's diminutive guard, was an excellent ball handler and aggressive floor leader. Sophomore Bob Toschi and Junior Bruce Sivils did an excellentjob inspellingthe first five, scoring and rebounding like regulars. Although Aragon will be losing the entire First String, an equally eventful season can be expected with the return of such reserves as Toschi, Sivils, Bob Wells, and Bruce Silliman.
