MUSIC Aquinas has always been iustly proud ot its Music Department, and certainly this year has been no ex- ception. When Mr. l-lasenauer announced his retirement atter twenty-two years ot taithtul service, no one envied his successor, because there had been built up an organiza- tion which was outstanding in the state, and thus he would be expected to continue the high standard. With youthtul enthusiasm and conscientious zeal, instructions given the Drum section in specialized techniques by Mr. James Murray, and the early morning drills conducted by Fr. Udall tor the whole band. Students ot the Freshman class, interested in broaden- ing their musical knowledge were instructed, one period a day, in the playing ot the French l-lorn, the Flute, the Tuba, and the Clarinet. The Band Council with Peter Provenzano President, Tom Bristol Vice-President, Charles Masse Secretary, Don Father Udall undertoolc the taslc. Anyone who has seen and heard the band will admit that it is comparable to the best in the past in musical ability and marching. With the aid ot Mr. Donohue, who directed the Glee Clubs and Liturgical Choir, and Mr. Zalcoor, the business manager, the organization is continuing the splendid tradition begun over thirty years ago. Interesting and helpful innovations this year were the Piccolo Librarian, and Carl Silvio Manager, strove to popularize and publicize the activities ot the Band.
